With the Irish job market expected to grow even further in 2018, more and more companies are using IrishJobs.ie to find the best people for their business. IrishJobs.ie has been leading the way in developing smart technology to ensure recruiters and jobseekers alike can make the most of this thriving job market. Orla Moran, General Manager of IrishJobs.ie, discusses the areas with the most job growth and how their technology is helping make job searching easier.

2018 is expected to be a great year for the Irish job market.

The ESRI is forecasting strong job growth saying unemployment will reach the lows of the pre-crash period.

While according to IDA Ireland, multinationals are now employing a record high of over 210,000 people, with 19,851 jobs having been created in 2017.

New Jobs

So what type of jobs will be in demand over the next twelve months? There a couple of new areas coming through related to changes arising in 2018 observes Moran.

“The new data protection legislation (GDPR) comes into force in May, so we are seeing a strong demand for staff with experience in data protection. This will continue to be a growing area for jobs so I wouldn’t expect hiring in this area to fall away. These types of roles are here to stay”.

“Then running alongside the data protection jobs we are seeing strong demand in recruitment for cybersecurity jobs again due to the new GDPR legislation. There will be big fines for companies if they have any breaches of their customers’ personal data so that has focused attention on the importance of good cybersecurity. It’s interesting to see how changes like this always bring about new recruitment opportunities.”

“In terms of sectors the usual suspects such as IT, banking and financial services, and hotel and catering sectors, will continue to see strong recruitment in 2018,” says Moran. “They continue to dominate the market in terms of volume of jobs.”

IrishJobs.ie works closely with the big name recruiters in these sectors to help them find the best candidates possible. Tech companies such as SAP, Version 1, Jet.com, Workday, Symantec and Bearing Point all promote their jobs on the site.

The recruitment site has long established recruitment relationships in the banking and finance sector with companies such as BNP Paribas, Citco, State Street, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, BDO and the Central Bank.

It ’s not just companies in IT and Banking that promote their vacancies on IrishJobs.ie. Over 1,000 businesses across 20 sectors recruit on the website, including organisations from multinationals, to small and medium businesses (SMEs).

Smart Job Hunt

With 1.5 million visits per month from over 700,000 jobseekers, when recruiters advertise on IrishJobs.ie they can be confident that their vacancies will be seen by relevant jobseekers who are actively searching for their next role.

IrishJobs.ie is committed to the jobseeker experience too, recognising that just as recruiters want the find the best person for their vacancies that candidates want to find a job that is right for them too.

Which is why there is a team of developers and designers at IrishJobs.ie dedicated to building enhanced recruitment technology which makes it easier for jobseekers to find a job that is right for them.

In the last twelve months, the team installed a new purpose-built search which uses advanced linguistics and parsing techniques to analyse job content and improve results for job hunters.

The recruitment website also launched a bespoke algorithm which monitors jobseekers’ behaviour and preferences and uses the data to show them jobs that are matched to their interests.

Instant Jobs

Tracking and suggesting jobs is one thing, but IrishJobs.ie want users to know exactly when a perfect role is posted on the site. That is why they recently launched Instant Job Alerts to make it easier for jobseekers to find their dream job..

Instant Job Alerts are turned on when a user has just registered on the site, which is at the most active stage of their job hunt. The Instant Job Alert matches the exact role a jobseeker is searching for and emails the potential candidate with all the information needed to apply for that role instantly. It means a jobseeker never has to worry about missing out on the next step in their career.

Along with superior job search technology IrishJobs.ie also provides free CV advice, salary guides and interviews tips. The site publishes the popular Inside Story blog posts which give candidates the opportunity to find out from employees what a company is like to work for.

The site aims to be a one-stop shop for job seekers says Moran.

“We provide everything you need to find a new job. We’ve thousands of live jobs from top companies across Ireland and with our smart technology we’ve made it quicker and easier for people to find a job that is right for them. Once you have found a job that you want to apply for then we’ll provide all the advice and support you need to secure the position. If you haven’t dipped your toe in the job market in a while then 2018 is the year to take the plunge. It’s the year of the smart job hunt!
