Self-advocacy in the workplace – August masterclass

Masterclass host, Hannah O’Dwyer, AsIAm’s Training Manager and Education Officer, was joined by Adrian Carroll, Training and Accessibility Officer, at AsIAm, who gave an overview of the practicalities of self-advocacy and offered real-world advice on how employers can encourage self-advocacy in the workplace. While two autistic people, Eileen Chapman and Danny Burke, shared their experiences of self-advocacy.

Monthly masterclass  

As part of our partnership with AsIAm, Ireland’s National Autism Charity, we are collaborating on a series of monthly masterclasses aimed at supporting employers to engage with the vast untapped pool of Autistic talent in Ireland.

Each monthly workshop will cover a different theme, including recruitment and onboarding, workplace culture and attitudes to neurodiversity, self-advocacy in the workplace and career progression and personal development.

Our previous masterclass examined ‘Reasonable Accommodations for Autistic People’ September’s masterclass will discuss career progression and personal development for autistic people.
