Customer support and superb account management are   cornerstones of IrishJobs.ie.

We take immense pride in building friendly and productive working relationships with our customers to ensure they find the very best talent for their vacancies.

As a Senior Customer Service Executive, I work closely with our customers to ensure they are getting the most of out of IrishJobs.ie.   So I thought I’d share the three most common customer queries and, even more importantly, the answers!

How can I get ahead of my competitors?

The war for talent is very real. Competition to find and hire the best is fierce. So, in a job market like this, how do you attract the best candidate?

Start with your basics. Begin with a clear and simple job title, write a well-defined job description including location and salary and remember to add your keywords, they play an important part in helping people find your job. If you get these basics right, then our recruitment technology  will do the heavy lifting to ensure the right candidates see your jobs.

On a broader level, I always tell people to think of the job seeker. How easy are you making it for them to apply for your job? Candidates demand a simple and straightforward application journey. If your competition is advertising the same role and has a more streamlined recruitment process, particularly online, then the odds are the candidate will opt to apply for their vacancy.

We have invested heavily in UX to ensure a smooth job hunt for candidates. Some of our clients use ATS systems to manage their recruitment so I’d always ask recruiters if their website is jobseeker friendly? It’s a good idea to regularly test and review the application journey they expect a candidate to take. It can help reduce drop-offs as candidates transition from our site to theirs.

Finally, consider your employer brand. What makes you an attractive company to work for? What can you offer the talented professionals? Many companies make the mistake of believing that the promotional material they use for customers will work for candidates. That is not the case. You need to take a different approach for jobseekers. What will persuade a candidate to apply for a job is information about your workplace culture, company ethos and your career and personal development strategies. We can work with you to make sure your company profile reflects the very best of your business including videos, awards and links to your social media platforms.

When is the best time to post/update my job?

The truth is this question has been made redundant by candidate behaviour and our onsite technology.

Every month, we receive 1.5 million visits from people looking for their next career opportunity and we send almost 2 million job alerts emails to jobseekers. We are bringing a lot of talent to your jobs! Our onsite technology makes sure they see jobs that are right for them whether that is by StepMatch,   our specially designed search algorithm or by Recommender  which tracks and analyses a job seeker’s behaviour on site.

Mobile has made job hunting a 24/7 activity.   55% of the people who come to IrishJobs.ie search and apply for jobs on their phones or tablets, and that number is only going to get bigger. It’s why I am so passionate about a good jobseeker experience. If it doesn’t work on mobile, then it won’t work at all!

One thing that doesn’t change is January. It is always our biggest month for traffic. Everyone always starts the New Year with a resolution to changes jobs. But, what you might not know is that is that is closely followed by September! We believe this is for very similar reasons, people return from their holidays determined to find a new job.

What is the best location to choose for my job?

On IrishJobs.ie you can choose three locations. Obviously, you should put where the job is based. Everyone wants to live close to work! But, it can be a good idea to include the surrounding counties if you want to reach commuters.    However, if you are doing that then you must state where the job is actually based in the job description. If you don’t then you run the risk of confusing candidates and that is one the biggest barriers to a jobseeker applying for a job.
