Stobart Air (previously Aer Arann) is a growing European regional franchise airline, operating Aer Lingus Regional franchise services between Ireland, the UK and Northern France, and Flybe franchise services from London Southend Airport to mainland Europe. Stobart Air operates 764 flights per week across 33 routes from 22 departure points throughout the UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Holland and Ireland, on a modern fleet of 15 ATR aircraft.

An important feature of Stobart Air’s business model is to provide connectivity from the UK regions to North America, whereby customers in Britain can transfer seamlessly and pre-clear US Immigration/Customs at Dublin and Shannon, before travelling onto North America with Aer Lingus Mainline.

Stobart Air is owned by the Stobart Group along with other investors. Stobart Group’s aviation assets comprise London Southend Airport; Carlisle Lake District Airport; Stobart Air; plus air freight, maintenance and airport services.

The Best Bits

I liked the people, the overall atmosphere too. It is a great and dynamic place to work with plenty of options to advance within the company or change sectors within the company. Management is very good, capable and accesable too.

Things to improve

Better custom built computers for flight operations would be an advantage due to the software used in Flight OPS.

About The Job

- Day to day supervision of the Operations Control Center on shift ensuring coverage of all aspects of Operations Control; - Responsible for reviewing operations and crewing issues and implementing corrective actions where necessary; - Making informed decisions using sound judgement with regard to schedule disruptions, on-time performance and customer care issues; - Ensure regular liaison with other departments and senior management in order to provide and gather up to date information on the day to day operation; - Ensure all Ops Control procedures are in compliance with mandatory standards and regulations; - Ensure all Ops Control duties are conducted and completed in a timely manner; - In conjunction with the Operations Director review internal systems and procedures, and introduce initiatives as required; - Monitor entry and accuracy of operational data input into the operations management system; - Monitoring and managing the accuracy of reference data for all Operations Control software systems; such as PDC, PPS, etc.; - Supervision of Operations Control Staff. This will include monitoring annual leave, sickness, appraisal and disciplinary matters and staff training & development; - Providing reports as directed by the Operations Director; - Additional projects as assigned by the Operations Director. - Co-ordinate the day to day aircraft scheduling with all relevant parties, and ensure that optimum utilization and aircraft resources is achieved to maintain punctuality. - Maintain complete Flight Watch of company aircraft and manage disruptions to the flight schedule in conjunction with handling agents and other departments. - Co-ordinate all flight planning issues with local ATC centers and EUROCONTROL - Maintain complete weather watch and NOTAM dissemination for all destinations and alternate airfields. - Assist crew members with pre-flight planning duties as required. - Co-ordinate with ground handling in relation to radio calls from aircraft passing on estimated arrival times and parking stand allocations. - Ensure that all flight tracking data is accurately entered into the ASL system. - Liaise with Crew Control regarding delays, cancellations and aircraft changes affecting pilots and cabin crew. - Ensuring that all flights have their correct crew compliment and that all roster changes, amendments and notifications are advised in a timely manner.

Staff would benefit from more strategic development plans and educational support.
