Who we are and what we do?
The Arts Council is the Irish government agency charged with leading the development of the arts in Ireland. We advocate the importance and value of the arts and promote their practice and development. We advise government and others on the arts as required by the Arts Act 2003. We invest public monies allocated by government in supporting artists and arts organisations to make work of excellence and in other actions consistent with our remit. We work in partnership with the Department of the Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and with other government departments as well as with local government and with agencies and organisations within and beyond the cultural sector. The Arts Council's grant from the Irish Exchequer in 2017 is €65.1 million
