Experienced Vet required for Contract Reserch Organisation in the West of Ireland.

 

Charles River Laboratories is a world leader in contract research. With more than 7,500 employees world-wide we operate in 16 countries. Our business is to provide support to the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology and Animal Health companies and work as a CRO partner to develop their range of products.

The Irish facility based in Co. Mayo is currently seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon.

 SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitoring the health status of animals (mainly small animals).
  • Performing clinical observations of animals on study.
  • Carrying out surgical procedures and necropsy work as required.
  • Setting up new animal breeding programmes and monitoring existing breeding programmes.
  • Certification of Animals for sale.
  • Liaise with study directors in relation to protocol design and study conduct.

  PERSON SPEC:

  • Registered with the Veterinary Council of Ireland
  • Appropriate third level qualification
  • 2+ years experience in industry/practice preferable.
  • Excellent attention to detail with good documentation practices.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Fully experienced in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be available for the weekend on call/ call out roster every one in three weekends.
