The role: UK Consumer Marketing Director

As a Marketing leader, you are a fully dedicated business leader, shaping the future of one of our many Google products. Whether you're on a consumer product (like Gmail, Search, Maps, Chrome, Android) or a business product (AdWords, AdSense, DoubleClick, Analytics), you take part in a complete marketing experience as you lead every facet of the product's journey. From determining positioning, naming, competitive analysis, feature prioritization and external communications, you help shape the voice of the product and help it grow a loyal consumer base. This means you work with a cross-functional team across sales, corporate communications, legal, webmasters, product development, engineering and more. The role enables you to shape the product development process, organize product launches from beginning to end and form future marketing strategy.

You will be responsible for Google???s consumer brands (including Chrome, Google+, YouTube and Android), earning the love of consumers and driving the growth of our consumer products in Google???s largest international market, the UK. You will be expected to run both big, brand-defining moments, as well as hardworking ROI-based programmes. You???ll work closely with Product, Partnerships and PR teams in the UK and globally. Based in London, you will lead the consumer marketing team and report to the UK & Ireland Marketing Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Set and lead consumer marketing strategy for Google in UK and champion this approach across business.
  • Manage the UK consumer marketing team and lead design and execution of effective marketing programmes to drive product adoption and earn brand love, applying rigorous tracking and analysis to determine effectiveness.
  • Champion the needs of UK consumers working with research teams to design studies to gain knowledge about user needs.
  • Set and manage marketing budgets, appoint and manage creative and media agencies (with in-house creative and media specialist teams).

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree. In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA, or advanced degree.
  • Strong product and brand marketing experience. Technology / online industry experience, knowledge of online products and market dynamics and an understanding of Google???s strategic and competitive position.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to develop strategy, business plans, customer and market insights, and analyse campaign effectiveness/ROI.
  • Team management: ability to provide direction and prioritise team goals and workload, motivate and coach direct reports. Ability to influence at all levels and work effectively across functions and geographies.
  • Track record of effectively delivering multiple large-scale projects in a very fast-moving environment.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Comfortable presenting to large external audiences.
