Trainee Accountant – Accounting Department

TMF Ireland is searching for a highly-capable trainee accountant to join our Dublin team.


Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Department, the successful candidate will be part of a team of eighteen professionals handling internal accounting, client accounting and payroll, including the accounting for special-purpose vehicles (SPVs). The candidate will have the following specific responsibilities:

  • Handling of internal and client accounting
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for consolidation purposes under IFRS
  • Inter-company reconciliation
  • Budgeting and forecasting functions and reconciling actual to budgeted figures
  • Debtors / creditors analysis, maintaining invoices, billing and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Assisting in the preparation of accounts to trial balance / financial statement level of client companies, including structured finance companies/ Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) under IFRS
  • Maintaining computerised administration of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs)
  • Maintaining contact with Investment Managers, Trustees and Banks in order to achieve objectives in meeting deadlines and serving the client’s needs
  • Liaising with external parties, such as auditors and tax advisors
  • Handling of tax assessments
  • Assisting in client payroll preparation


  • Financial-administrative education to a degree standard or part qualified ACCA, CPA, ACA, CIMA, or comparable level achieved through exposure and experience.
  • Previous experience in a similar position desirable
  • Must be ambitious and able to work on own initiative
  • Able to work within an international, multicultural environment
  • Interest in international financial markets
  • Excellent Word and Excel skills
  • Fluent English is essential – fluency in other European languages  would be an advantage
  • Versatile team player - flexible, pragmatic, thorough, proactive and service minded.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a bright & positive outlook
