Vickerstock are continuing to work exclusively in close partnership with our client in the food manufacturing and production sector for the recruitment of a Technical Manager. Our client are at the forefront of innovation and development and have just launched a new product range, due to this further growth and expansion they are seeking to recruit a Technical Manager to join their technical team.



The Technical Manager will be responsible for controlling the day to day quality activities of the site in addition to maintaining and improving the sites Quality Management System, conducting audits in the area of GMP, fabrication, metal detection, HACCP, BRC, allergen, pest control, maintenance etc. The Technical Manager will support internal and 3rd party audits and will be supported by a team of Quality Controllers.



The Technical Manager will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Through daily routine monitoring and verification ensure all products are produced to the required specifications, manufacturing practices and food hygiene legislation.
  • Conduct regular hygiene audits, quality checks, label verification, system compliance checks, microbiological sampling, recording and trending.
  • Provide technical support in the identification of non-compliance's / deviations from the quality system and implement corrective actions and procedures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Investigating customer complaints and implementing corrective actions.
  • Identify areas for improvement & work with teams to strive for a best in industry standard.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement plans to enhance product quality, line efficiency, reducing raw material waste, line downtime and ultimately consumer complaints.
  • Motivate the production teams to understand food safety & food quality and how this is incorporated into their daily duties.
  • Ensure Quality KPI's are achieved and maintained.
  • Ensure the QMS is implemented, maintained and improved on where necessary.
  • Be an active member of the NPD team by checking and reviewing specifications..
  • Prepare for, participate in and in some cases, lead customer visits & 3rd party audits.
  • Champion the quality agenda on the site always.


Criteria/Essential Experience

The Technical Manager must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Diploma / Degree in Food Science / Food Technology
  • Experience of audits, BRC, Customer etc
  • Good understanding of HACCP principles and BRC V7
  • Deep understanding of Quality Management Systems


This is a full time permanent role and the hours of work are 8.30am - 5pm Monday to Friday.


Salary: £40k - £55k
