Role Level: Aviva Level D
                                                                                                                                                                                  Role Purpose

To maximise value through the end-to-end commercial management of Aviva’s claims suppliers and associated third party spend, focussing on driving performance, customer service and commercial benefit from the supply chain.
To mitigate and manage supply chain risk by developing and deploying appropriate category strategies and actively manage suppliers within sub-category in order to ensure achievement of contracted levels of performance and benefit delivery to Aviva.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive value and performance, optimising Aviva’s claims supply chain through:
  • Combining market intelligence with an understanding of existing supplier arrangements and business requirements to plan and implement sourcing and supply chain strategies with guidance as appropriate from senior leadership team
  • Working closely with Claims & other stakeholders to create fit-for-purpose contracts and supply relationships
  • Managing supply chains to deliver quality customer service in line with operational business requirements
  • Managing commercial & supply risk
  • Managing contracts for value and performance, locking in business benefits
  • Driving further value through managing and developing supply relationships
  • The utilisation of appropriate processes, systems, controls and governance mechanisms
  • Managing simple commercial and contractual disputes, breaches and exit
  • Responsible for the contractual compliance, governance and performance of the arrangements within remit
  • Meet agreed commercial targets or measures for category – including delivery of sustainable cost reductions as required
  • Be accountable for the management of all relevant category spend
  • Be accountable for delivering claims fulfilment within agreed processes, maintaining strong relationships with Operations and other stakeholder Business Units so that their requirements may be assimilated and leveraged to deliver the best outcome for Aviva & the customer
  • Take personal responsibility and accountability for own category of spend
  • Act as a commercial professional, with guidance from E grade/Hof as needed
Skills, Knowledge & Experience required
  • Significant experience in a Claims/trading/procurement/supply chain /Finance/Legal commercial environment
  • Proven track record of building strong internal and external business relationships at all levels
  • Possess a thorough understanding of the Consumer Protection Code
  • Knowledge of and experience in dealing with the pressures of a service environment by maintaining motivation and focus with a can do attitude
  • Knowledge of the marketplace, the industry and how we can contribute to Aviva’s success
  • Demonstration of good business acumen
  • Personal Effectiveness – the knowledge and skills to produce the desired effect or outcome
  • Systems Thinking– Helping to identify and eliminating waste and finding better ways to deliver desired outcomes for customers, colleagues and company
  • Strategic & Tactical Sourcing – knowing the difference and when to apply to get the optimum results
  • Supplier Market Knowledge – have an awareness of the supply chain process and market (e.g. EL, PL, Motor, Household, Product Liability and Fraud) in which our suppliers operate to ensure best value for Aviva
  • Contractual Governance – Responsible for meeting SRI Governance requirements/standards and ensuring Ariba tasks and activities are complete and up to date at all times.  Work with peers across Supply Chain to share best practice and to ensure continued development/improvement of Ariba
  • Relevant academic qualification e.g. university  degree;  CIPS qualification;   ACll and demonstrable relevant experience Demonstration of pace, passion and drive
  • Ability and agility to work successfully in a matrix organisation, including cross team working within SC itself Computer literacy and a good knowledge of relevant software
  • This role may require management of a team including: setting of smart stretch objectives and management of the performance review process
