Boarding School Supervisor, private girls boarding school. 32 - 38 hours per week ( evenings) for immediate start.


Woodlands Academy is an International Boarding School for Girls with a Catholic ethos, located near Bray, Co. Wicklow. The Mission of the Academy is to collaborate with parents in the integral formation of their children, to accompany and guide each student in their integral formation, providing opportunities to grow as a person and experience the beauty of Christian life. Our students mainly come from Latin American countries and Spain.

The school is currently seeking a ‘Dean of Discipline’ to join our team. The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • Supervising all student activity outside school hours
  • Promoting and monitoring student behaviour, encouraging good habits, virtues and attitudes
  • Demonstrating an understanding of the developmental needs of each student and consistently showing sound judgement in dealing with issues that arise
  • Demonstrating effective problem-solving, decision making and communication skills
  • Working and interacting effectively as a team member
  • Showing consistency in treatment of all students and helping with the smooth integration and induction of new students in September and with Spring students and ensures that there is no exclusion
  • Co-ordinating or organising any activities, as nominated or delegated by the Director
  • Overseeing recreation, after school activities, study hall, showers, bedtimes, working with groups of students on projects, leading prayers on occasion, giving announcements, taking part in fun activities / parties / in house shows with students.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have previous experience working in a school environment and in any capacity with teenagers. Experience of the Latin American culture would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Consistently demonstrate sound judgement and emotional intelligence.
  • Be a great team player.
  • Display strong organisational, communication and leadership skills.
  • Show excellent attention to detail.

A background in first aid, nursing or a related area would be of distinct advantage.

Working hours are afternoons and evenings. There are two schedules available: 


16.30 - 23.30 Monday to Thursday and Sunday 12.00 - 20.00


Tuesday to Friday 1.30 - 22.30, Saturday 18.00 - 01.00

Own transport is required. You must be legally permitted to work full time hours in Ireland.

As part of their role, the successful candidate must be available and willing to accompany the team of Deans who travel with the students on International trips up to 5 times per year, to Paris, Italy, Switzerland, London and Spain. A current passport is required.

Please note that due to the nature of some of the supervision tasks in this role, which require the Dean to be present at bedrooms and bathroom areas, the school requires applications from females only for this particular position on this occasion.
