At PUNCH Consulting we are looking for a Structural Engineer with 2-5 years experience to work with our team in our Dun Laoghaire office on a range of major projects.


PUNCH Consulting Engineers are recruiting a Structural Engineer to work in our office in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin. PUNCH was founded in 1973, and we have offices in Limerick, Cork, Galway and Glasgow. We work on a broad range of projects across such sectors as healthcare, education, conservation, retail, residential, civil infrastructure and environmental. We require a young engineer with passion, skill, and a desire to learn, to join our team to deliver the high-profile engineering projects for which we are known. Our office location in Dun Laoghaire may facilitate those keen to avoid the city-centre traffic congestion.


Job Description:

  •  The work will be primarily office based.
  • Regular site inspection work will be required. 

  • Responsible for detailed design of structures in steel, concrete, masonry and timber in accordance with BS, EN, and international codes.

  • Using a wide range of design software, backed up by hand calculation.

  • Working under the guidance and mentoring of a more senior member of staff. 

  • Liaison with REVIT & CAD technicians to produce drawings that reflect design outputs.

  • Working closely in partnership with Clients, Contractors and other members of the design team. 

  • All work will be carried out in accordance with the company ISO QMS procedures. 


Candidate specification:

  •  You must have a passion for engineering.
  • An honours degree in Structural Engineering or equivalent.

  • Applicants for this position should be working towards chartered status.

  • Must have design experience in an engineering consultancy.

  • Design experience in reinforced concrete, steelwork, masonry & timber.

  • A high level of analytical skills.

  • A good knowledge of the codes of practice – BS, EN and international codes.

  • Experienced in the use of structural design software.

  • A proactive and positive approach to solving problems.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Proven commitment to CPD.

  • Own car essential.
