Job description:

These are Senior Engineer Positions offering an interesting and varied career opportunity for candidates with a high level of expertise in high precision electrical design evaluation of advance analogue, ‘mixed signal’ and digital IC’s. The jobs include characterising high speed ADC’s & DAC’s, amplifiers, power management, video IC’s, ASICS, MEMS, PoL’s and RF products.

As a member of the Design Technology Evaluation group, you will not only perform high precision measurements & develop new design evaluation software (typically in LabView); but also you will provide a consultative and training role to the more junior engineering staff in the group. You will be managing an existing client base and from time-to-time be partaking in IC design review meetings with the client. You will be working in a well equipped electrical evaluation facility in Tyndall. 

As Senior Engineer you will need to possess a very high level of initiative and the ability to plan effectively an in-depth design characterisation project from the beginning to its successful conclusion, while meeting the client's project expectations and time schedule. You will need to be able to communicate effectively and regularly with the client. You will need an in-depth understanding of measurement technology and be creative in designing new and better approaches to particular measurement challenges. The typical duration of each client project is a few months and you will be required to generate a high standard engineering report for our clients. At times you may be working as part of a client’s project team.

 Responsibilities:

 

  • Plan in-depth IC design evaluation schedules in conjunction with industry partners.
  • Design advanced design evaluation software environments to facilitate extensive
  • characterisation of advanced products.
  • Conduct a full 'characterisation schedule' in agreement with our customers and as part of a team.
  • Interface effectively with clients throughout the design evaluation exercise.
  • Compile comprehensive 'design evaluation reports' for the client.
  • Meet with clients to review data & plan new projects.
  • Contribute to the development of laboratory facilities & planning.
  • Oversee and train junior staff

Academic/Educational requirements: Primary Degree or Masters Degree in Electronic Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

Qualifications Desirable: Primary Degree or Masters Degree in Electronic Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

Required Skills and experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of high precision 'mixed signal' components (Op-Amps, DAC's, ADC's, PoL's, IF's, etc ).
  • Highly killed in LabView
  • Strong computer skills.

Minimum experience: 5 - 10 years

Working conditions: Working with staff with extensive IC design, technology and evaluation expertise in a well equipped facility.
