Sr. Business Analyst, IT Security Company



The Senior Business Analyst will work as part of the IS Operations Team to manage and support operational/tactical projects and change requests reporting into Operations Manager. The expected contribution of the Senior Business Analyst would fall into the following main categories:


  • 20% planning focus, 80% delivery focus
  • Business requirements gathering
  • Business process design
  • Test management
  • Project lead for low complexity projects
  • Non project consultation, planning analysis and thought leadership 


 They will need to:

  • Develop Subject Matter expertise  of end to end solutions within the enterprise across multiple business functions/domains/value streams
  • Create business value by overlaying knowledge of current practices with best practice
  • Take part in early planning activities and analysis between business stakeholders and the solutions teamUnderstand the specific business problem that the project aims to solve and provide proactive expert advice and analytical input
  • Lead the analysis phase of a project, with overall responsibility for identifying the end to end business requirements and process design with stakeholders and solutions teams
  • Keep all parties and departments involved and focused on the bigger picture and long-range benefits of the new software or project solution
  • Provide ‘translation services’ between the business and IT, taking into account language and terminology differences between the two
  • Liaise with the Solutions delivery team throughout the SDLC to get visibility of the design solution and ensure it aligns to Business expectations
  • Lead the UAT phase of a project, with overall responsibility in ensuring testing is planned and executed according to the scope of the project
  • Update the business processes to reflect the business change
  • Conduct user training as part of the deployment
  • Mentor the more junior business analysts through project delivery
  • Work directly with business stakeholders outside of the project boundaries to discuss future direction of business domain, etc.
  • Project manage low complexity sales and marketing or operational projects without the need of a project manager


Role Requirements


The Senior Business Process Analyst must have the following skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability with a high degree of business acumen
  • Ability to clearly document requirements using appropriate business and systems terminology
  • Must be motivated and self-driven with ability to self-manage and prioritize day-to-day tasks
  • Fast learner
  • Demonstrable ability to meet tight deadlines and follow project management methodologies and standards
  • Strong ability to effectively create and deliver presentations
  • Strong business communication skills - visual and verbal
  • Strong customer facing skills, demonstrating the ability to build working relationships internally and externally
  • Strong, demonstrable level of influencing and negotiating skills, both with Business users and Development/Solutions teams on and off-site
  • Some project management experience, managing project plans, scope, issues/risks etc
  • Extensive MS Office skills


Type of Experience  

  • At least 5 years Business process analysis experience
  • Experience working with Enterprise Applications and processes
  • Experience with Software Project Life Cycle
  • Experience in analysing business issues, identify root cause and develop solutions
  • Experience in writing clear, detailed documents
  • Experience with designing business processes, detailing them, identifying areas of improvement and creating improved processes
  • Working with scattered teams and with people across organization levels (project managers, analysts, IT architects, developers, etc.) to deliver end to end solution
  • Experience in creating test scripts and executing them
  • Experience in test planning
  • Knowledge of the end to end processes within the enterprise across multiple business functions/domains/value streams
  • At least 1 year Project management experience
  • A background working in a Sales & Marketing environment is preferred
  • Experience with SaaS solutions in the Sales & Marketing space such as ELOQUA, SFDC, Sugar CRM, etc, would be advantageous


  • Educated to degree level in applicable discipline (IT, Business), or educated to degree level with relevant work experience
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Business Process Analysis Certification – a distinct advantage.
