The Central Bank of Ireland is currently seeking a Senior Banking Policy Analyst for its Prudential Policy Division.


The Central Bank of Ireland is currently seeking a Senior Banking Policy Analyst for its Prudential Policy Division. The Banking Unit’s focus is primarily on the development of EU legislation related to banking and the regulatory framework of the European Banking Authority, of which the Central Bank of Ireland is a member. This is a three year fixed term contract.

Main duties:
The primary responsibility of the role will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team. The Senior Banking Policy Analyst will be responsible for policy research, development and implementation, providing briefings to Management including Senior Management and representing the Central Bank at EU Working Groups.

In particular, this will involve:

  • Representing the Central Bank at various EU Working Groups, including the European Banking Authority Working Groups.
  • Provision of detailed oral and written briefings on EU and international policy developments/proposals.
  • Assisting in the transposition of EU legislation into national law.
  • Research and developing policy and processes to strengthen the supervisory framework.
  • Liaising with colleagues, government departments, fellow supervisory authorities and other stakeholders on policy developments and proposals.
  • Providing guidance to colleagues on interpretation and policy implementation in credit institutions, including training. 

Skills and experience:

The following skills are required at an appropriate professional standard:

  • Minimum third level honours degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in the financial services industry/supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience of international, EU and national regulatory framework and legislative process.             
  • Ability to research and interpret highly technical information quickly, thoroughly and draw appropriate conclusions.                                                                                                    
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, in particular the ability to relate technical aspects of policy to colleagues, industry and other stakeholders in a clear manner.                                                                                                                             
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team.
