Our highly qualified cGMP lab staff work with large and small molecules, including active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), drug products, inhaled products and other medical devices.
About the Inhalation Scientist position
PPD provides laboratory services that are designed to increase speed and precision. Our lab employees are committed to quality results and strict compliance with regulatory standards. The role of Inhalation Scientist is to provide support to our Inhalation Technology Services department by conducting device performance, aerosol and particle characterisation and impactor testing for pMDIs, DPIs, nebuliers, nasal sprays and novel devices. This role will work with minimal supervision, interpret analytical data in regards to acceptability and consistency and set up and maintain analytical instrumentation.
Key responsibilities
  • Provide full analytical testing support for inhalation devices (pMDIs, DPIs, nebuliers, nasal sprays and novel devices) in accordance with cGMP practices against strict timelines to successfully meet client program milestones.
  • Perform a variety of complex sample preparations
  • Perform analysis procedures to quantitatively measure pharmaceutical compounds in a variety of formulations for stability testing and other studies for analytical testing support
  • Communicate effectively and follow detailed written and verbal instruction
  • The ability to plan, schedule and carry out work for successful project completion
  • Provides assistance and training to Associate Scientists
Skills and experience
  • Educated to a Higher Education Level in a relevant area, ie chemistry
  • 3 years' experience working within a cGMP Lab
  • 3 years' industry testing experience of inhalation devices with cascade impaction, dose delivery and particle size analysis.
  • General analytical chemistry knowledge
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well with others
  • Ability to write protocols and reports with minimum supervision
