Research & Development Technologist – Co. Meath – D004842

Location: Navan Co. Meath

Salary: NEG DOE

Recruitment Plus is currently recruiting for a R&D Technologist to join our client’s team based in Co. Meath. The successful candidate’s main objective is to enhance the company’s excellence. To be responsible for all aspects of R&D including its overall development, implementation and maintenance with a strong input to the innovation process in product and process. Work with production to identify and exploit opportunities to improve quality performance and or manufacturing efficiency.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Interact and learn what had been successful at the company.
  • Provide advice and knowledge in all aspects of the science of the product. Provide guidance and expertise in rheology and viscosity of products to the Technical, NPD and NPI teams.
  • Responsible for the research and development based on the requirements and ideas created during the research phase.
  • Support the company’s innovation pipeline and identify new opportunities for NPD and Innovation.
  • Work with production to identify and exploit opportunities to improve quality performance and / or manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide knowledge and recommendations on the technical chemistry of ingredients and advice on their performance with the processes and equipment within the company.
  • Ensure new and existing products and ingredients are suitable for the process and technology applications.
  • Empathise to customer demands. Play a key role in the growth and profitable development of the customer accounts.
  • Support and develop improved shelf life on all new products and in a programmed fashion across all existing products. Provide supporting information by conducting the Aw of products and other relevant tests.
  • Challenge products from an organoleptic aspect and attend taste panels.
  • Understand the technical codes of policies of all customers.
  • Have the ability to communicate with suppliers professionally to collate the necessary information regarding an ingredient.
  • Communicate effectively with technical, NPD, NPI, Operations and sales teams.
  • Knowledge of HACCP requirements when developing new products and ingredients.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending training courses, educational workshops, reading publications and keeping abreast of current technological developments in the industry.
