Position:  Product Development Intern – JobBridge
Scheme
 
Reporting to: Senior Product Development Engineer/Research &
Development Manager
 
Primary Function:
As a member of the Product
Development team assist in the work of design, development and taking to market
of medical devices for one or more Cook Medical Strategic Business Units.
 
Responsibilities:
• Perform Duties of Product
Development Intern
To ASSIST with or to WORK UNDER SUPERVISION on the
following:
o Design development, prototyping, test method design, design
evaluation, design reviews, design specifications, design verification and
validation, design protocols and reports, transfer to production activities in a
timely effective manner.
o Product testing and evaluation, completion of
test reports to support design selection
o Preparation and presentation of
design reviews
o Assist with Product and project risk analysis and risk
management.
o Work with Manufacturing Engineering to introduce new equipment
and production processes as required for any new manufacturing techniques.

o Source new materials, components and equipment.
o Development of
component specifications, inspection methods, bills of materials and
manufacturing processes.
o Assisting in releasing production and quality
inspection documentation for new products.
o Introduction of new equipment,
materials and technologies.
o Using CAD 3D and 2D Pro–E drawings of
components and products as required to specify the parts.
• Team
o Ensure
project tasks/milestones are completed in a timely manner to meet
business/team/project metrics.
o Attend meeting as required
o Support
other cross functional groups to deliver company goals.
• Quality And
Regulatory
o Compliance with Quality, Regulatory (ISO 13485, ISO 14971 and
FDA CFR 820) and company policies and systems
o Complaint review and problem
solving.
• Communications:
o Regular communication to cross-functional
teams, senior management and business unit leaders.
o Project status
communications and reporting.
• Health and Safety
requirements.
o Compliance with all Health and Safety
requirements.
o Ensure desk and workspace is maintained to good housekeeping
standards.
• Business
o Ensure that Cook’s Code of Conduct is considered
with in all business matters carried out on Cook’s behalf.
 
Qualifications
• Relevant third level engineering qualification.
• Ability to plan own
work
• Good time management
• Basic knowledge of anatomy and
physiology.
• Good mechanical design and understanding of engineering
fundamentals with materials knowledge.
• Manufacturing design and process
understanding
• Good working knowledge of Solidworks and/or Pro Engineer
CAD.
• Technical writing skills.
• Team Player with ability to develop
strong working relationships.
• Communication and inter-personal
skills.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Highly motivated individual, self
starter with a passion for excellence.
• Must be able to work in a fast paced
environment.
