1.    Purpose Delivers technical solutions for changes or issues to systems supporting the Rabobank platforms developed and/or supported by IS&D, acting as part of a CoC, and

 

1.    Purpose
Delivers technical solutions for changes or issues to systems supporting the Rabobank platforms developed and/or supported by IS&D, acting as part of a CoC, and ensures the integrity and compliance to standards of technical solutions from suppliers and own team.

 
2.    Responsibilities
 Support
• Provide 3rd level support on supported systems, working with the support team to prioritise and manage issues to resolution.
• Identify trends and root causes of issues and drive improvement activity.
• Ensure supportability is built in at development stage.
 
 Development
• Develop technical solutions that meet defined needs for both business lines, taking ownership and providing appropriate information to stakeholders
• Own the delivery of technical solutions including design, development, documentation, unit testing, version control and configuration management to ensure changes are managed effectively through the lifecycle.
• Create high level and detailed estimates for projects and releases.
 
 Quality
• Ensure technical solutions, whether in-house or external, meet agreed standards
• Provide consultancy throughout the development cycle.
• Maintain close links with stakeholders to ensure standards and processes are up to date and in-line.
• Deliver system and user documentation to ensure that functionality and structure of the developed solutions is described correctly and the solutions are fully supportable.
o Review the deliverables of other developers and suppliers as required.
o Continuously works to increase knowledge and to be familiar with best practices in the above disciplines.
o Contributes to the definition and improvement of processes and standards within these above disciplines.
o Applies agreed processes rigorously.
 
 General
• To take on other responsibilities for which the job holder is suitably capable to perform, training and development will be provided as required
 
3.    Qualifications
 Desirable
 Relevant Third Level Qualification in an IT or business related discipline or equivalent
 

4.    Knowledge and Experience
 Essential
• Expertise in .Net
• Capable of defining application architecture as required
• Knowledge of alternative delivery and analysis approaches (e.g Agile, Use Case)
• At least 8 years development for MS platforms (Microsoft SQL Server, ASP.NET/VB).
• At least 4 years .Net 2.0 Framework, specifically.
• At least 2 years Application and system design using OO methodologies and patterns, with evidence of the preparation design documentation and conformance to it.
• At least 2 years experience leading development projects, taking responsibility for setting timelines and working towards them.
• At least 2 years experience with an enterprise capable revision/source control system (subversion by preference, Clearcase, bitkeeper, git).
• Proven experience with industry-standard software engineering principles, including technical documentation, revision control and code promotion.

 Desirable
• At least 2 years working with Java Script/CSS.
• At least 1 year development for .NET 3.5 experience (AJAX, particularly).
• Experience developing SQL queries and reports for Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• 2-3 years experience working in a Business Intelligence environment where data warehousing systems are designed, developed and supported.
• Experience with state of the art development tools, designing tools, languages and methods
• Experience of cross-skilling and mentoring
