Purchasing and Supply Chain Officer required in Dublin

 

COMPANY:

Founded in 1996, Panther Products are the leading Irish “Trade Only” supplier of promotional products to wholesalers in the business gift industry.  With our team of twenty people, we source our products from factories in the Far East and Europe and brand them at our in-house printing facility in Fonthill, Dublin 22. We then sell these goods through 100+ wholesale companies throughout Ireland, with whom we maintain a good relationship.

We have always positioned ourselves as a quality supplier, we are passionate about providing a very reliable service and delivering on time. The person joining our team should have a similar desire. 

ROLE

This successful candidate for this permanent part-time role will have considerable knowledge of procurement and logistics. They will be responsible for all purchasing, from initial procurement through to arrival of goods at premises.

Sourcing, sampling, product specifications, logistics including combining orders together into containers at port, customs clearance and stock replenishment are also part of the role. Reports directly to the Managing Director and works closely with the Office Manager.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Primary:

  • Purchasing goods sold by the business and consumables / services used within the business.
  • Raising monthly purchase orders from East suppliers in the Far East / Europe (based on reports showing historic sales and max stock levels and discussions with the MD).
  • Monitoring goods from date of raising Purchase Order until arrival in our warehouse.
  • Maintaining the supplier and product database.
  • Purchase Invoice Management, reconcile values to ensure they tie in with PO value, follow up outstanding issues and credit notes with suppliers.

Secondary

  • Supplier account management and sourcing.
  • Logistics Management (goods from Far East, Europe and within Ireland).
  • Suggesting system improvements to improve the manner in which we procure our goods.
  • Compiling and maintaining a product compliance certification database.
  • Putting Agreed Quality Levels in place and looking for product improvements.
  • Organising print and quality tests on samples received from potential suppliers, prior to placing orders for goods shipment and upon arrival.
  • Handling product complaints.
  • Assisting in the office with customer calls (Sales Enquiries)
  • Other projects as assigned by the Managing Director. To date, this has been apart-time role, due to business growth we are making it a full time role, so there should be spare time for other project work.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

We wish to recruit a self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed person with a mimimum of four years relevant experience working in a purchasing / logistics role. The candidate should have a proven track record in managing projects effectively. Whilst not mandatory, a formal materials qualification is preferrable, e.g. IIPMM / APICS. The role involves liaising with company management, suppliers and Panther’s sales and warehousing team.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

Experience:

  • Considerable experience in working in a purchasing role
  • Strong experience in dealing with overseas suppliers
  • Good knowledge and experience of implementing best practice procurement and supplier management approaches
  • A good knowledge of logistics

Abilities:

  • Must be able to prioritize, organize tasks and work to specified deadlines.
  • The ability to solve problems
  • Ability to develop efficient systems
  • A great eye for detail
  • Self motivated and committed to doing things well
  • Set up and organise the Business Procurement Unit organisation with regards to systems & structure
  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work under pressure.
  • Excellent computer skills

WORKING HOURS:

The role is a permanent part-time role of 20-25 hours per week, there is flexibility as to when these hours are worked. The official office opening hours are 8:30 to 17:00 Monday to Thursday, except Friday when we close at 16:00.

SALARY:

Annual equivalent of €35k +, depending on experience, please outline your salary expectations in your application and skills and experience supporting same.

OTHER:
