The job in a nutshell
Three Ireland build, operate and maintain a cutting edge mobile network with particular emphasis on Mobile Broadband and a current focus on achieving an All-IP network architecture. A Senior Project Manager is required to manage a portfolio of projects which are focused on building out and updating this network. Individual projects will be managed by project managers assigned from a resource group and the purpose of this role is to coordinate and direct the successful execution of these projects within the overall portfolio. There are typically twenty to thirty projects in flight at any one time covering all areas of the network. This role is full time, reports into the Head of Engineering.

Areas covered include the following:

End to end delivery of the Three Ireland network related projects in the areas of RAN, Transmission, Core, OSS, and BSS
Define, manage and deliver the projects on time, to budget and specification.
Ensure proactive communication and accurate reporting of project status to stakeholders.
Motivate and manage multiple interfaces to ensure the project is delivered as specified to stakeholders
Assess, prepare, raise and manage Change Requests
Ongoing Optimisation of resources and project deliveries
Significant input to the annual budgeting and budget management process
Significant input into road-mapping and strategic planning for the network
Significant responsibility for CAPEX expenditures in the network area
Regular reporting of achievements, risks and issues.
Provide Project Assurance and Tracking
As the Project Manager may be required to liaise closely with some design and project staff based offshore, there may be need for occasional travel. The role will be based 3ROI offices in 1 Clarendon Row, Dublin 2.

What else it involves

End to end responsibility and ownership for the definition, documentation and safe execution of the projects, directing and motivating project team members & third party suppliers following Company led processes and procedures.
Reviewing and contributing to realistic project, quality, and risk plans.
Proactive communication to business owners & stakeholders.
Monitor and control team performance against project plan
Monitor and control allocated human and material resources, associated OPEX costs and all capital costs against the project budget.
Work with impacted Technology and business teams to ensure project requirements are understood, and solution is fit for purpose.
Evaluate and make recommendations/decisions on technical options as appropriate.
Liaises with other managers within the business as necessary to drive project delivery; resolve delivery-impacting issues, escalate in a timely manner and manage stakeholder and programme management expectations for projects.
Management of third party suppliers to review the status of projects.

The skills we`re looking for:
Must Have:

Demonstrable evidence of managing the full project lifecycle.
Experience of managing projects in a fast paced, changing environment.
Proficient in Project Management - Principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation.
Management of stakeholder expectations
Management of major changes in business processes to achieve optimization of benefits
Demonstrable use of an industry recognised project management methodology
Experience of third party / vendor management.
Experience of Project Management in the Telecoms industry.


A professional qualification in a project management discipline
A degree or equivalent
Technical Experience in some areas of Telecoms : e.g RAN, Transmission, Core Networks, OSS.
Experience of working within project management offices.
Experience of defining and scoping project requirements
Experience of programme management and large project portfolios.
