Description

Job Purpose:

Responsible for all aspects of production scheduling to support customer requirements. Ensure that production objectives are effectively planned, consistent with Merck's requirements to ensure compliance, safety and reliable supply to our customers.

Principal Accountabilities:

* Establishes and maintains the planning systems and methodologies while supporting the site wide implementation of the SAP system.

* Supports the forecast and sales demand planning by direct liaison and interaction with the site buying function

* Manages daily, weekly, monthly manufacturing planning for the IPT. Support Production start up and steady state activities through finite weekly production planning of all activities occurring in the production areas. Factor in production equipment capacity and work closely with activity owners to understand equipment and resource requirements to execute requested production activity.

* Completes “what-if” scenarios in support of unplanned adjustments to schedules, to facilitate early impact assessment of planned and unplanned changes.

* Updates the plan based on demand changes and complete work order assignment against the forecasts, to identify special requirements prior to release and/or manufacturing.

* Participates as a member of the IPT team.

* Continuously uses best practice methodologies and lean production principles. Supports continuous improvements initiatives to eliminate waste in production and planning processes using continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.

* The incumbent plays a pivotal role in supply chain business processes involving key site staff and global planning operations. Support and continuously improve planning efficiency across the IPT

* Development and update of KPI planning metrics within the IPT and providing appropriate update to the IPT leadership Team

* Development and continuous improvement of IPT manufacturing "time standards"

* Align finite planning with SAP processes to support adherence to finite production schedules for manufacturing

* Other planning-related activities to support IPT as and when required.

* Format, write, deliver and review documentation in line with the standard approval process, and facilitate others to do so. Documents will include SOP’s, SWI’s, training materials, change controls.

* Required to comply with Merck Global Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, regulatory requirements and execute current Good manufacturing Practices (cGMP) in the performance of day to day activities and all applicable job functions.

* Work collaboratively to drive a safe and compliant culture in Carlow.

* May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

* Bachelors Degree or higher preferred; ideally in a Science, Engineering or other Technical discipline

Experience

* Relevant experience and a particular skill set in their area of expertise that adds value to the business; ideally in a manufacturing, preferably GMP setting

Core Competencies:

Technical

* High level on SAP/MRP experience around planning and scheduling

* Knowledge of regulatory/code requirements to Irish, European and International Codes, Standards and Practices

* Knowledge of cGMP and GDP preferred

* Supply Chain Knowledge (Sales & Operating Planning/Forecasting/MPS/MRP)

* Finite planning skills

* of developing deep understanding of complexity in manufacturing processes to support finite manufacturing planning

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and job related computer applications required

* Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, to interface effectively with all levels of colleagues and with external customers in a team orientated manner
