Role Summary/Purpose To operate on a shift basis the day to day running of the Power Plant in keeping with operating procedures and Health, Safety and Environmental requirements. Essential Responsibilities
  • Operate the plant on a shift basis in a safe and efficient manner ensuring high performance and maximising availability and optimising efficiency.
  • Carry out routine plant inspections and front line maintenance work as instructed and to record any findings of plant defects during the course of regular site duties.
  • Providing absence /additional shift cover on other shifts where required.
  • Work within the sites safe system of work, preparing plant & equipment ready for maintenance activities to proceed safely under the Permit to Work System.
  • Participate in all EHS activities and ensure all EHS requirements are strictly adhered to.
  • Ensure the operation of the plant is managed incompliance with the site environmental licenses.
  • Collect and distribute all relevant information relating to the operational trading systems of the Power Station to the relevant authorities in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Support the Shift Manager in developing, coaching and mentoring staff to ensure they achieve their full potential.
  • Ensure accurate and complete records are maintained of all plant operational tasks.
  • Compile and complete reports and procedural documentation as directed by the Operations Manager.
  • Use the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) to control routine work and enter defects.
  • All other tasks and project which may be assigned by the Operations Manager from time to time. Qualifications/Requirements
    • Third level qualification: HETAC Level 6 Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) or Apprenticeship in a relevant area.
    • Background in IT would be advantageous.
