TMF Ireland is searching for a highly-capable trainee accountant. The successful candidate will be part of a team of eighteen professionals handling internal accounting, client accounting and payroll, including the accounting for special-purpose vehicles (SPVs).

 

Part Qualified Accountant – Accounting Department

TMF Ireland is searching for a highly-capable Part Qualified accountant to join our Dublin team.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Part Qualified Accountant will be to work with the Head of Accounting / Senior Accountant in meeting the accounting, tax and other reporting commitments of their relevant clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for individual goals and helping to meet the wider departmental goals.

The Part Qualified Accountant will be expected to assist in providing accounting services to a shared portfolio of clients and liaise with the audit firms / tax advisors and other external parties with regards to their allocated clients.

The candidate will have the following specific responsibilities:

• Assisting in the preparation of accounts to trial balance / financial statement level of client companies, including structured finance companies/ Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) under IFRS

• Compile, enter and post monthly journal entries and prepare monthly management accounts for consolidation purposes under IFRS

• Assist in cash management including the management of bank accounts and payment instructions.

• Review investor reports, cash manager reports, portfolio performance information including trades to prepare reports reflecting the movement of the portfolio

• Draft high quality Director's reports, Risk Profile Notes disclosures and other financial information relevant to the financial statements of an SPV operating in the financial services sector.

• Prepare statutory financial reports as well as client-specific reports.

• Set-up and maintain computerised administrations and/or financial databases.

• Prepare reporting to third parties, e.g European Central Bank.

• Interact with Supervisor / Team leader on daily basis and assist on special projects.

• Ensure a timely and correct filing of the administrative records.

• Maintaining contact with Investment Managers, Trustees and Banks in order to achieve objectives in meeting deadlines and serving the client’s needs

• Interact with external auditors and tax advisers in completing audits and filing tax returns

• Execute any activities necessary to ensure TMF and its clients comply with which is from a sound compliance point of view required or otherwise desired.

• Perform debtors / creditors analysis, maintaining invoices, billing and monthly bank reconciliations

• Arrange for payment of debtors and collect outstanding receivables.

• Keep client data and the client databases up to date.

• Perform other duties as assigned or requested

•Assisting in client payroll preparation

Requirements:

  • Finance or Accounting degree holder or part qualified ACCA, ACA, CIMA
  • Accounting knowledge and experience with the ability to construct a trial balance / management accounts
  • Desirable to have an understanding of the key accounting issues specific to the financial services industry including but not limited to; valuation / pricing of financial assets, accounting for impairment and illiquid assets, recognition and measurement of derivative financial instruments, Leasing and Asset Finance etc  
  • Desirable to have the ability to review legal documents, contracts, agreements including those specifically relating to acquisition and management of financial assets with a view to identifying the impact on the financial accounting process
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Previous experience in a similar position desirable
  • Must be ambitious and able to work on own initiative
  • Able to work within an international, multicultural environment
  • Interest in international financial markets
  • Excellent Word and Excel skills
  • Fluent English is essential – fluency in other European languages would be an advantage
  • Versatile team player - flexible, pragmatic, thorough, proactive and service minded.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a bright & positive outlook
