Celestica Galway is currently recruiting for Mechanical Design Engineer who will work within a team of Engineers to undertake various design work on new and current toolsets and associated products in advance of manufacture.

Position Summary:

Celestica Galway is currently recruiting for Mechanical Design Engineer who will work within a team of Engineers to undertake various design work on new and current toolsets and associated products in advance of manufacture.

This role will report to the Engineering Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertakes Design for Manufacture, Design for Assembly, Design for Test and other DFx work on new products in advance of manufacture
  • Designs & Develops new manufacturing lines to support business requirements
  • Explores and implements design improvements to current designs and processes
  • Performs concept design and proposals to meet requirements for new business.
  • Designs & develops special purpose and robotic assembly solutions to meet customer requirements and specifications
  • Liaise with vendor companies on both a national and international level
  • Designs, develops and implements assembly process improvements
  • Explores and implements design improvements to current designs and processes
  • Supports new customer business development activity
  • Knowledge of, and adherence to, Site Safety Statement and all aspects of safe working practices including, but not limited to, PPE, manual handling and chemical handling and awareness

 

 

Core Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of Factory Automation, Robotics, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, CE Marking, Machine Guarding and Safety Systems
  • Good organisational abilities
  • Experience with Design Review and Report Writing
  • Experience with equipment and product design using Solidworks, AutoCAD and other Product Design tools
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office family of products is a prerequisite for this role
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills across departments and functions
  • Excellent customer relations skills and an ability to satisfy demanding customer requirements
  • Experience working in an ISO compliant environment

 

 

Typical Experience/Education:

  • 2-5 yrs. experience in one or more of the following areas: Machine Design, Product Design, Tool, Jig and Fixture Design.
  • B.Sc. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline
