Marketing Specialist


Position: Marketing Specialist

IE Domain Registry CLG is seeking to recruit a Marketing Specialist. This is a full-time permanent position, reporting to the company's Customer Operations Manager. The ideal candidate will have a Degree or Diploma in Marketing and will have a minimum of 3 years experience, ideally in the internet or e-commerce industry sectors.

The company operates Ireland's national registry for all Internet addresses ending in .ie. The ccTLD registry is managed and controlled by IE Domain Registry Limited (IEDR) in the interests of the Local Internet Community. The .ie namespace has experienced 35.4% net growth YTD in registrations in 2017, recording more than 3,000 new registrations per month. There are currently over 232,000 .ie registered domains, of which 1.1% of domains are registered directly with the company, and the remaining 98.9% managed by the company’s 118 accredited registrars, as agents of the registrants.

This is an exciting opportunity to join this successful company, which is currently embarking on a new phase of growth. The successful candidate will work with the company's accredited registrars to determine the optimal mix of promotional and marketing activities. The key objective is to generate new domain registrations, maximise renewal rates of existing .ie domains and encourage the take-up of multi-year registration and renewal options.

Roles and responsibilities:-

  • To implement initiatives and projects to support the IEDR Strategic Plan 2020, with a focus on growth, customer experience, digital advocacy and operational excellence
  • To prepare and implement an annual communications plan adapting and tailoring content for specific target audiences across multiple channels in support of the Strategic Plan objectives
  • To prepare and write our five Annual Flagship Publications
  • To prepare and implement an annual programme of events and sponsorship to promote the .ie namespace
  • To work with and listen to accredited registrars to determine and agree their promotional needs, which will support their sales efforts, improve non-renewal rates and promote the take-up of multi-year registrations and renewals
  • To promote the .ie namespace with government agencies, departments and local authorities
  • To promote the generic benefits of a local Internet address (.ie) and the local namespace
  • To participate in the international marketing and sales events, organised by CENTR (the European organisation of ccTLDs). In particular, to identify best practices of other ccTLDs
  • To identify sponsorship opportunities, consistent with the company's ethos and strategic objectives
  • To develop promotional merchandise and materials for accredited registrars
  • To manage external marketing suppliers, including quality metrics, and events budgets. This will include managing tenders for external services
  • To manage (hands-on) the company websites and produce regular analytics reports
  • To represent the company at industry events, including making presentations
  • Travel within Ireland & limited amount of international travel required
  • Driver’s License required

 Requirements / Qualifications for the role

  • Degree or Diploma in marketing, communications or equivalent
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role
  • Thorough understanding of marketing elements (including traditional and digital marketing such as SEO/Social media etc.) and market research methods
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing marketing initiatives and communications strategies
  • Effective communication skills and excellent written communication ability
  • Experience of managing external agencies and suppliers
  • Proven experience of managing Twitter, LinkedIn, e-zines, websites/microsites
  • Competence in MS Office, Salesforce, Mail chimp, WordPress, Google Analytics
  • Commercial awareness coupled with a creative mind
