A vacancy has arisen for the role of Marketing (SFA) Executive in the Small Firms Association sector at Ibec. 

This will be a specified purpose contract to cover a maternity leave absence. 

The Small Firms Association (SFA) is Ireland’s largest small firm representative organisation, with over 8,500 member companies. Its vision is of Ireland being the most vibrant small business community in the world - supporting entrepreneurship, valuing small businesses and rewarding risk takers. Its mission is to be the trusted partner of small businesses in Ireland, to deliver business-focused advice and insights to member companies, influence government policy to the benefit of small businesses and connect its members in a thriving community.

Role Purpose:

This describes, in essence, why the job exists and a summary of what it delivers for the organisation.

The SFA Executive will develop and deliver exceptional membership engagement strategies and will provide excellent member services, including valuable business focused advice and connections for our members. S/he will help to grow the organisation. S/he will demonstrate an understanding of small business needs.

Key Activities/Responsibilities:

This is a list of the functions/actions to be performed to deliver the necessary outputs and outcomes.

• Project coordination of the SFA National Small Business Awards programme. This would include developing excellent sponsor relationships, event management, marketing activities, budget responsibility and logistics.

• Lead responsibility for SFA membership development activities, including managing and developing the SFA brand, to marketing and sales strategies, managing campaigns, developing marketing materials, targeting prospective members and converting them into membership.

• Membership retention activities, including acknowledging subscription payments from member companies, sending out new member packs and making customer service calls to new members.

• Development of the SFA Social Media Platforms, including Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.

• Development and Maintenance of the SFA websites, including uploading documents; updating member details on the membership system, and generating website username and passwords.

• Writing for SFA publications, e.g. SFA weekly e-zine items, articles for Better Business magazine, articles for external media publications, contributing expert content to SFA website and third party websites. The Executive will also have a coordination role for the SFA weekly e-zine.

• Work as an effective member of the SFA team on all activities.

Person Specification:

a) Qualifications, experience & knowledge

• Primary degree
• Ideally 2 years post graduate experience
• Experience of marketing & sales campaigns and event management
• Knowledge and understanding of the small business sector would be a distinct advantage

b) Competencies and behaviours

• Be committed to developing innovative models for engagement with members and to the development of new member services
• Ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including senior external stakeholders
• Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
• Team player – capable and results orientated
• Exceptional written, verbal communication and presentation skills
• Solution-focused: will work to find the answer to members’ queries
• A confident, creative self-starter, have the ability to work off his/her own initiative
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
