Management Accountant for the development and co-ordination of activity based revenue/cost budgets, the identification of value for money opportunities and supporting strategic and operational planning




The Plassey Campus Centre Group was established by the University of Limerick in 1985 to support the overall education function of the University of Limerick. The group develops and manages residential accommodation and retail outlets (Campus Life Services), the Sports Facilities (UL SPORT) and the University Concert Hall on a self- funding basis. During the summer period the residences, sports facilities and the Concert Hall host conferences, summer schools, sports events and music and arts events. It is also involved, in contracting and property development of all major capital works on the University of Limerick campus.


The Job:

A vacancy now exists for a Management Accountant to join the Finance Team. The Management Accountant will assist and report to the Financial Controller or such other person as may be designated in the provision of financial management services to the PCC Group companies and business units.  This will include specific responsibility for the development and co-ordination of activity based revenue/cost budgets, the identification of value for money opportunities and supporting strategic and operational planning. 

The role of the Accountant is a challenging position for an ambitious qualified accountant with a wide range of relevant experience.  The role requires an assertive, creative individual who is able to influence decisions and to manage and positively motivate staff. 

The ideal candidate shall:

  • be able to work within, and where necessary lead, multi-disciplined teams and have the ability to motivate, empower and encourage personnel under his/her control to achieve maximum performance;
  • possess good analytical skills and attention to detail;
  • have good IT skills;
  • have an ability to work and deliver results within tight deadlines in a changing and fast moving environment:
  • have strong interpersonal, influencing and communications skills;


Qualifications and Experience:

Each candidate must have the following:

(a)   hold a professional accountancy qualification with one of the professional accountancy bodies;

(b) have a minimum of one year relevant post qualification experience;



  • preparation of annual operating  and capital budgets ;
  • monitoring income and expenditure against revenue on a monthly basis at company and business units levels;
  • ensuring all essential information is captured at month end to provide for quality information within the monthly financial reports;
  • the production of monthly and annual accounts;
  • ensuring adequacy of controls over revenue recording;
  • advising and communicating with management on relevant matters;
  • ensuring compliance with corporate financial standards;
  • ensuring that the Management Information Systems are working effectively;
  • such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.



The salary on offer is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience and expertise.
