About Version 1

Version 1 is an established IT Services & Consultancy company, which has operated successfully for over 12 years and has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Consultant to join our growing Infrastructure Consulting Practice in a permanent role or for a minimum of a 6 month contract.

The position will be based primarily on our client site in Cork. The ideal candidate will be commutable to Cork, however, suitable candidates located in the Dublin region that are willing to work in Cork a minimum of 3 days per week will also be seriously considered.

Role & Responsibilities

The role requires someone who has a broad understanding of technology (enterprise infrastructure, databases, storage, etc.) and who is well organized and has a good grasp of project management disciplines.

This is a great opportunity for a Senior Infrastructure Consultant to develop their skills and expertise in a large corporate environment.

The role is broad, touching off all aspects of infrastructure, applications, databases and project management. It requires someone who is a driven, go getter who can work on their own initiative and has a strong working knowledge and background in most or all of the areas listed above, specialising in the database and/or infrastructure areas preferred.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Excellent troubleshooting ability both within their area of expertise and also outside of their technical comfort zone i.e. ability to ascertain potential solutions outside of their area of technical expertise
  • Strong infrastructure and database experience (SQL Server and/or Oracle)
  • Ability to diagnose issues across a number of platforms and technologies
  • Ability to document environment landscapes into physical and logical diagrams
  • Ability to work with and manage 3rd party vendors as appropriate

Technical Skills

  • Broad IT skillset
  • Good understanding of the following is required:
    • Enterprise Infrastructure solutions
    • Oracle and/or SQL Server Databases
    • Performance tuning
    • Disk storage systems
    • Windows and Unix operating systems
    • SQL Server suite (inc Analysis Services & Reporting Services)
    • WMQ & Java JRE
    • Citrix & vSphere

Duration

Both permanent and contract options will be considered. The contract will be for a minimum of 6 months but may extend to 12 months.

Please note some travel to the UK may be required
