IT Quality & Release Assistant Manager required for our IT Division in Liberty Insurance.


Job Title:                    IT Quality & Release Assistant Manager

Department               Information Technology

Location                     Cavan or Blanchardstown

Reports To                 IT Delivery Manager


Job Summary: Responsible for leading and day-to-day management of the I.T. quality assurance and release management teams.


Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Lead the Quality & Release teams, providing direction in goal-setting, coaching and motivation.
  • Drive the teams and suppliers to deliver high quality results. 
  • Provide insight and guidance for the teams to implement processes to deliver automation, reusability and minimise risk in the delivery of change.
  • Manage the delivery of root cause analysis for high risk issues identified by the business and ensure follow-through on the lessons learned.
  • Drive results and promote continuous process improvement, while ensuring business objectives are met.
  • Create transparency within the team by providing clear a relevant reporting mechanisms to reflect workload status.
  • Hold responsibility for the team complying with established project, quality, and change management policies.
  • Engage with the business to understand the importance of functions, the consequences of failure, the frequency of use and the risk appetite.
  • Ensure workload and resourcing across the team and through external business partners is managed effectively and efficiently.
  • Collaboration with the Applications team to ensure an effective transition from application build through test and on to production.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to promote smooth and timely delivery of software products or updates.
  • Performance manage team members through effective objectives and performance expectations.
  • Manage the performance and workload capacity for third-party partner.
  • Provide expertise on activities relating to test and release for team members and third-party partners, ensuring adherence to best practice methodologies.


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field.

  • Software Testing qualification (e.g. ISTQB) required.

  • ITIL qualification required. 



Experience & Knowledge

  • Experience in the management of an IT Test function with exposure to working with off-shore teams

  • Strong and proven capability in planning and change coordination.

  • Excellent working knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle.

  • Excellent working knowledge of testing practices and methodologies.

  • A proven performance management track record.

  • Have a general knowledge of every aspect of the software development process and software applications / platforms, as well as the various business functions and perspectives.



  • Self-disciplined and able to motivate a team.

  • Ability to work effectively and prioritise own and teams workload.

  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills across at all levels within the organisation.
