The role: Financial Analyst, UK Sales Finance

Financial Analysts ensure that Google makes sound financial decisions. Our team of Financial Analysts foster the financial health of our organization by partnering closely with our various functions, tracking performance metrics and creating financial models. Our Financial Analysts are up to date with the latest economic trends and apply knowledge around rates of return, depreciations, working capital requirements and investment performance to the projects at hand. As a Financial Analyst, you are called upon to build complex scenarios analyses that serve as the basis for recommendations that leaders of the business draw from to make critical strategic decisions. A master juggler working on multiple projects at a time, you maintain a consistently high level of attention to detail while finding creative ways to tackle financial challenges.

This is an exciting high-profile role that provides full Finance support to the Sales Leaders within the UK (Google's 2nd largest market after the US). This also offers scope for global leadership of individual analytical projects. You will work in close partnership with seriously talented Sales folk and Finance colleagues from across the EMEA region and around the world to consult on planning, reporting and decision support for the wide range of Sales activities that acquire, delight and retain our users and advertisers. This role would suit an analyst who wants to make their mark on a successful team and further develop already strong business partnering skills. You will be an excellent communicator who enjoys collaborating with people with a diverse set of talents. You will also be a strong time manager, able to prioritise ruthlessly and move at pace through process work while creating space for original thinking and analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and drive efficiency in core Finance processes for UK such as Quota Setting, Reporting, Business Reviews, Commissions and Business Planning.
  • Maintenance and continuous improvement of existing reports and tools while developing and scaling new frameworks for tracking KPIs and Return on Investment of sales activity.
  • Partner closely with the Sales Leaders and influence decision making thorough deep analytical insight into core decisions such as revenue maximizing sales focus and resource allocation.
  • Engage with global Sales Finance teams to drive scalable tools/analysis and insight.
  • Provide analytical input into the budgeting process for the UK Sales budget, ensuring that investment is allocated optimally across channels and products.

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree with evidence of quantitative coursework such as engineering, computer science, mathematics, economics, or finance. (In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience.)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Distinctive problem solving and analysis skills, combined with impeccable business judgment and ability to communicate with highly technical management team.
  • Proven financial planning, budgeting and forecasting experience.
  • SQL expertise. Other database, automation or business intelligence skills (VBA, javascript, python, R, Essbase).
  • Exemplary oral and writing communication skills with a demonstrated track record of effectively partnering with technical, business, and operations colleagues.
  • Strong analytical work experience in high data volume environments, in software, internet, media or telecoms industries. Consulting experience.
