The role: Finance Operations Project Lead

The Finance Operations team manages Google's cash transactions on a global basis and ensures that Google's incoming and outgoing cash processes are controlled, effective and efficient. As a member of this team, you'll find innovative ways to manage our complex set of transactions. You thrive on making processes more efficient and scalable, you work to ensure the highest level of quality of our operations and you proactively minimize operational risk. Externally, you collaborate with our outsourcing partners and internally, you collaborate across the five areas of the Financial Operations team: Global Revenue Operations, Procure to Pay, Electronic Payment Services, Business Process Outsourcing, and Payroll.

This is a high visibility role within the Payroll organisation which will involve leading complex project initiatives. The role will report to the EMEA Payroll Manager whom you will work closely with to re-engineer processes, design system changes and undertake considerable change management and transformational initiatives. As a member of this team, you'll find innovative ways to manage our complex set of transactions. Above all, you must have exceptional customer relationship management skills.


  • You will partner with key stakeholders, engineering, and vendors to improve complex financial processes, perform effective escalation management and provide ???quick fix??? solutions.
  • You will analyse detailed data-sets to identify risks and opportunities.
  • You will provide performance reporting, analysis and management of issues escalated to management.
  • You will ensure readiness on supporting new and existing functionality.
  • You will provide customer feedback analysis, operational monitoring, troubleshooting and error resolution to prevent inaccuracies, reduce process latency, and drive process excellence.

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/Bsc or equivalent (in lieu of degree, relevant work experience).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in project management and process improvement.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment, and to lead and drive complex operational initiatives.
  • Strong influencing skills and change management experience with the ability to successfully manage complexity and multiple priorities.
  • Excellent analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment and ability to communicate with seasoned management.
  • Experience in shared financial services in a multinational environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, business partnering with multiple business functions including HR, Accounting, Engineering and a number of external partners, are key requirements for this role.
