Facility Electrical Engineer required for pharmaceutical company

Job Title: Facility Electrical Engineer

We have an immediate requirement for a Facility Electrical Engineer to support the existing electrical utility equipment and to design and project manage the installation of new electrical services. The role will be based in Galway.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update the 38kV substation, the ring main unit, transformers, switch gear, main panels, VSD, control circuits
  • Full understanding of all electrical standards, design and installations
  • Maintenance of all our existing electrical equipment
  • To support engineering and production on queries regarding new electrical issues and agree project details
  • Work with the design team to ensure design meets requirements
  • Design, manpower planning, budgets approval for Facility projects
  • Issuing design packs (specifications, drawings etc.) out for tendering, responding to contractors queries and preparing tender summaries for management to approve requisition
  • Supervision of all project installation work and ensuring that it is constructed/installed as per the companies standards and the electrical regulations and that the program is completed on schedule, within budget and to the highest quality
  • Commissioning and validating  of existing and new electrical services in building/projects/plant
  • Ensure that all critical technical files, maintenance routines, procedures and drawings are current and that proper handover of these at the end of the project occurs
  • Electrical maintenance and ensuring that all routines are relevant and  updated on the Preventive Maintenance System
  • Energy Management System – maintaining and updating and reporting on energy usage
  • Manage all electrical value improving projects
  • Supporting the Environmental Management Programme
  • Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality
  • Complying with all the regulations governing the quality systems
  • Ensures all direct reports are aware of their commitment to patient safety and product quality, are current with their training requirements and that they understand and comply with all other regulations governing their work

 Qualifications and Experience

  • Electrical Degree with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar facilities engineering role
  • Ability to liaise with Engineers, Supervisors, Managers
  • Requirement to have QS experience
  • Familiar with FDA, ISO9000, ISO14000 Standards and cGMP practices
  • Good working knowledge of Building Standards and Regulations
  • Ability to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision
  • Good computer skills are essential
  • Knowledge of CAD would be an advantage
  • Majority of the work will be spent on-site in an Manufacturing / Cleanroom Environment
  • There may be a requirement as part of the role to travel to other sites
  • Permanent or Contract role
