Designer’s Site Representative (DSR) / Deputy Designer’s Site Representative (DDSR)

Atkins’ Highways Consultancy Services is a centre of excellence for the design of major highway infrastructure projects. Our clients include the Highways Agency, Transport for London and major contractors. We undertake the design of major schemes such as M25 Widening for Skanska Balfour Beatty and Walton Bridge for Costain. We also support our overseas offices with design and assessment work, particularly in Hong Kong and the Middle East.

An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Designer’s Site Representative (DSR) and Deputy Designer’s Site Representative (DDSR) on the £150m M25 Widening Project as part of the ongoing design work we are undertaking for our client, Skanska Balfour Beatty.

The successful candidates will be site based, with main offices located at M25 Junction 6 (Godstone/Caterham) and Junction 22 (St Albans), where they will lead a team of Engineers, Technicians and Inspectors.

The Deputy Designer’s Site Representative will based primarily at J6 and report to the Designer’s Site Representative who will work at both J6 and J22.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Set up of the Designer’s site management system.
  • Supervise and audit the site construction to ensure the works are constructed in accordance with the Design and Contract requirements.
  • Supervise and organise the work load of a number of Engineers, Technicians and Inspectors.
  • Resolve technical issues as they arise on site.
  • Prepare, review and authorise site design changes resulting from contractor change requests or problems encountered on site.
  • Review and authorise the Contractor’s Inspection and Test Plans.
  • Audit the Contractor’s quality records.
  • Liaise with the Contractor, Client and HA representatives on technical and contractual issues.
  • Respond to the Contractor’s site queries through  the RFI database system.
  • Attend meetings with the Contractor, Client and HA representatives.
  • Monitor and report on site safety issues.
  • Issue responses to the RSA3 safety audits.
  • Prepare and issue the Geotechnical Feedback Report.
  • Prepare input data for the HA Databases.
  • Provide feedback to the Design Office.

 

Requirements:

Essential

  • Appropriate academic and professional qualifications, including Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer and Member of relevant Professional Institution.
  • Proven experience in the design and construction of civil engineering schemes including experience of major highway schemes.
  • Previous experience of acting as Designers’ Site Representative is preferred but as a minimum must have worked as part of a designers’ or Resident Engineers’ team on site.

 

Duration

Start Date - 7th January 2013

End Date – 31st December 2014
