Job Title: Customer Analyst – Commercial Analytics 
Reporting Line: Commercial Analytics Manager 
Job Location/Office: Dublin

Department Overview: 
The role is within the Commercial Analytics team which forms part of the Commercial function of PPB. The team supports both the Paddy Power and Betfair brands and provides the analytics and modelling which drives informed decision making, strategy development and the understanding and influencing of customer behaviours. 

Role Overview/Purpose: 
The Customer Analyst will be responsible for performing deep analysis of customer behaviours and journeys – why they do what they do and what impact this has on business performance. This will include: 

1. Performing ad-hoc deep dive analysis on customer activity and behaviour to understand how it impacts on commercial performance 
2. Building statistical models to predict customer activities and allow intervention to improve customer experience and revenues 
3. Performing customer segmentations and clustering to allow for deeper understanding of our customer base and greater personalisation 
4. Understanding our operational levers, including promotions, how they impact on customer behaviour and how we can adjust customer activities 

Prerequisites for the role include a technical/analytical skill set, the ability to understand the customer and a knowledge of statistical modelling. A passion for the industry is a distinct advantage. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Take ownership for analysing why customers do what they do and how those activities impact on business performance 
• Understand the impact customer behaviour is having on financial performance, the impact that our operations are having on customer behaviour and provide recommendations on how we should change our operations to drive improved performance 
• Develop customer segmentations, using statistical techniques, to gain deeper understanding of our customers 
• Deliver predictive models on customer value / likelihood to be active across all PPB products 
• Understand customer engagement / movement across all PPB products 
• Influence senior stakeholders to make data driven decisions on the back of the analyses and ensure that appropriate actions are taken.

Technical Competencies 

• Must have had hands on exposure to; 
o Analysing customer behaviours and how to influence them 
o The selection and use of a variety of statistical modelling techniques 
o Applying modelling techniques to answer business questions where appropriate 
• Ideally will have worked in an environment where there are many customers, and much data on their behaviour but little data on who they actually are 
• Naturally inquisitive mind-set: wants to understand behaviour, look for patterns, find great things 
• Advanced knowledge of analytical tools such as SQL, R, Python, etc. 

Education, Qualifications & Experience 
• Must have a highly numeric/analytical degree from a quality establishment 
• Must have an excellent understanding of the financial and operational KPIs upon which business decisions are based and against which strategic success is measured 
• Ideally will have a passion for our industry and our products
