To make informed credit recommendations, incorporating good risk assessment on restructuring requests across Portfolios. To assist in the achievement of the monthly targets for Debt Restructure as set by the business. The completion and presentation of written credit applications will form a significant part of this role.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in an underwriting environment - minimum 2 years
• Strong knowledge of Retail products, Mortgages, Credit Card products, Personal Loans or Unsecured Debt
• Strong understanding of credit assessment in the Irish market including Debt Restructure and the MARS process
• Awareness of all compliance issues affecting the financial services business (e.g. Anti Money Laundering, Data Protection, CCMA etc.)
• Ability and confidence to recommend sound decisions on a case by case basis
• Relationship Management - the ability to balance and maintain relationships with internal and external customers while achieving the highest underwriting standards
• Customer Focus - The ability to identify and react to the different needs of customers whilst taking a balanced view of Risk vs. Return

Responsibilities

• To underwrite restructuring applications within established guidelines with a view to arrears/bad debt reduction
• Maximize return on investment for Certus by restructuring deals to meet business and customer long term needs in an effective and risk adverse manner and in compliance with the Mortgage Code of Conduct
• Proactively achieve and maintain the highest service levels to customers at all times in an efficient, consistent and professional manner
• Maintain and develop high standards of service to internal and external customers and effectively manage these relationships accordingly.
• Prepare and present restructure proposals for submission to enable a smooth decision making process.
• Comply at all times with current Certus Collections and credit policy guidelines together with Operations processes and procedures
• Provide assistance to the Collections team when required to enable resolutions on customer arrears issues.

The Individual

• Strong underwriting capabilities with a previous knowledge of retail products.
• Strong operational capabilities and excellent attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Good report writing and financial analysis skills
• Good organisational skills with an ability to prioritise tasks
• Ability to work effectively as part of a busy team
• Flexible in approach and willing to work across all aspects of the R&I Operations function
• Computer literate with a good knowledge of Excel and Word
• Strong numerical ability
• Must be APA Loans qualified or actively working towards

Additional Information

Contract duration is 12 months

Please note, this role is a Controlled Function in accordance with the Central Bank’s Standards of Fitness & Probity. As part of the assessment for the role, candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory response to Certus’ Fitness & Probity questionnaire.
