Clinical Nurse Manager 1 – Adolescent Unit
(3 year fixed-term)

The successful applicant will :
• Hold current registration, or be eligible for registration in the Psychiatric Nurses register of  An Bord Altranais
o Have 5 years post-registration experience, including one year experience in child and adolescent mental health nursing. 
o Experience in clinical programme and service delivery in mental health is desirable.
o Experience of group facilitation is desirable.
o Management of shift co-ordination/management experience is desirable.
o Ability to develop and maintain constructive working relationships at all levels both within the organisation and with third parties including service user groups.
o Have excellent organisational skills.

Job Title:    Clinical Nurse Manager I, Adolescent Unit, 3 year fixed term  

Reporting to: Director of Nursing or designate 

Place of Work: Willow Grove Adolescent Unit, St. Patrick’s University Hospital, James’s Street, Dublin 8

Main Purpose: As part of a multidisciplinary team the post holder will have responsibility for assessment of care needs and evaluation of programmes of care ensuring the delivery of high quality care to patients. The post holder will have continuing responsibility for the ‘out of hours’ management of the unit including supervision and deployment of staff and conflict resolution. S/he will be expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in partnership with patients, carers and other professionals and in line with agreed standards and clinical policies. The nursing team within the Adolescent Inpatient Unit provides recovery based care using the Therapeutic Milieu Model.

Hours of Work:The standard working week applying to the post is 37.5 hours on a rotating shift basis.

• Demonstrate a clear understanding and commitment to St Patricks University Hospital organisational goals as outlined by the Clinical Directorship.
• Assume responsibility for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of individual recovery oriented care plans that are evidence based and /incorporate best practice guidelines.
• Development of  therapeutic relationships with young people and carers thereby ensuring that care needs are identified and met within a participative framework which recognises the principles of equity, dignity and respect and which takes into account spiritual and cultural diversity.<>
