ROLE TITLE:  Business Analyst - 3 Month Contract
REPORTS TO:  Head of Fixed Services Development

LOCATION:   Mountain View, Leopardstown, Dublin 18 
Role Purpose

The Business Analyst (BA) must work closely with both business and technical stakeholders in an outsourced environment, to ensure that project requirements are captured and are fully understood, technically deliverable and do not exceed the predefined scope of the project.

The BA’s will contribute delivery to the consolidated requirements document and a set of use case activity diagrams for front-end changes.

The requirements document must capture the agreed business requirements and any high-level technical requirements and restrictions necessary to fully scope the project, without dictating the design of the solution.

After requirements are agreed and signed off, use case and activity diagrams are produced to detail changes to front-end flows as support documentation for the Design phase.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the Vodafone Fixed Services systems and the Fixed Telecoms business processes. Bring this knowledge into the requirements analysis activities.

To act as the liaison between business units, the IT department and the IT vendors;
To elicit, analyse and document functional and non-functional requirements;

Support Business Owner in the production of Proposition Definition document and throughout project lifecycle
Engage with business stakeholders to capture, document and achieve sign-off on business requirements

Customers, supplier and third parties
Provide clarification and support to our outsourcing partner and other vendors on functional and non-functional requirements and use cases

Leadership and teamwork
Work with the project team, business and technology stakeholders to define and document functional and non-functional requirements
Assist in resolution of issues and actions relating to project requirements
Develop and manage plan of activities for requirements capture, use case definition and requirements & use case signoff
Work with project manager and other project team members to ensure successful delivery of project objectives

Innovation and change
Embrace change and continuous improvement initiatives, adopting change to improve performance

Business Analysis
Capture, analyse and document functional and non-functional requirements, to fully realise the project scope
Translate requirements into use cases and flow diagrams
Coordinate review and sign-off of requirements and use case documentation as per agreed project schedule
Review & sign off System Integration Test (SIT) and User Acceptance Test (UAT) documentation created by Test teams
Review project change requests and manage updates to requirements, use case documentation, and requirements traceability matrix as per change control process throughout project lifecycle
Ensure all deliverables are delivered in accordance with project schedule and gating target dates, adhering to quality standards as agreed in Quality Management Plan
Provide support to project manager, architects, developers, testers and business stakeholders throughout project lifecycle

Knowledge and experience
Ensure adherence to Vodafone standards and templates
Bring knowledge of Vodafone systems and business processes into requirements analysis activities

Report progress of business analyst activities with timely escalation of issues to the Project Manager and BA Manager
Persistent engagement with business stakeholders to ensure full understanding and clarity of all business requirements
Persistent engagement with technical stakeholders and vendors to ensure full understanding, feasibility and clarity of all technical requirements and deliverables

Person Specification
Technical / Professional Expertise

3+ years experience in a similar role
Good understanding of IT concepts and terminology
Solid analytical skills and knowledge of software application, database and system design
Understanding of IT solutions and the application of business requirements to IT solutions
Experience of working within a complex technical project environment
Excellent analysis and problem solving skills
Thorough working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of tools

Degree in a computing or information systems discipline or equivalent
Good understanding of telecommunications and/or mobile telephony concepts and terminology
Experience of working in a business analysis role in the information technology, computer software or telecommunications industry
Experience of working for a telecommunications and/or mobile operator company
Understanding of the end-to-end operation of billing and CRM systems
Experience working on large-scale systems integration projects
Understanding of project management concepts
Knowledge of Vodafone Ireland’s IT systems and organisation
Working knowledge of Sparx Enterprise Architect modelling tool
Working knowledge of Vodafone Ireland’s project development methodologies
