Project Description:

 

To expand a substantial portfolio of consulting engineering projects, in the design and construction supervision of civil engineering works, both in Ireland and in the developing world we are recruiting a Bid Team Leader.

 

The role involves leading the day-to-day aspects of compiling expressions of interest and tenders submitted by the firm for projects worldwide.  The main sources of the work bid are the public sector in Ireland (Irish Water, Local Authorities, OPW, Department of Education, HSE, TII) and the International Donor Agencies (World Bank, EU, MCC).

 

The role is a key one in tendering business opportunities for the firm. The successful candidate will lead an established bidding team and will be involved in every aspect of the submissions.

 

He / She will work closely with directors and with the bid preparation team while bringing in contributions from subject matter experts from various departments in the firm

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

  • To plan and manage the submission of tenders and expressions of interest in line with the firm's business objectives.
  • This will include following up on opportunities of interest to the firm; Maintaining an overview of the work of the team; Planning and assigning work on preparation and assembly of tenders to the bid team; Liaising with Technical Staff responsible for each tender
  • To oversee the final preparation of individual tenders including the collation of all inputs from technical experts contributing to tender, ensuring that bids submitted are fully compliant with requirements and of a high quality.
  • This will include: Reviewing the bid documents; generating a Compliance Check List, preparing templates, proof reading and completing compliance and quality checking of tenders prior to issue; Liaising with Sub-consultants; Collating, drafting and issuing Tender Queries; Managing the collation of the bid;
  • To assist in developing and maintaining high quality material on the firm and its projects for inclusion in expressions of interest and tenders, including managing projects database and CV database
  • To seek feedback on tenders submitted, provide competitor analysis to the departmental managers contribute to improvements to tenders and to the process 
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

 

Desirable Skills and Experience:

 

  • An excellent appreciation of what is needed for a successful tender and how best to articulate how the organisation can provide that.
  • An ability to organize and co-ordinate inputs from multiple sources to meet deadlines.
  • Team management
  • Knowledge of procurement procedures
  • Excellent written communications
  • Knowledge of proposal management best practices.
  • Experience in the preparation of tenders.
  • Capacity to lead a team producing high quality material under time constraints.
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering projects. Including a knowledge of and/or a background of experience in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Track record in the production of documentation that is error free and of high quality.
