Description

The Central Bank of Ireland is seeking to fill a vacancy within the General Insurance Supervision Division, which is responsible for the prudential supervision of domestic and international (re)insurance companies. This is a three year fixed term contract.

The Central Bank of Ireland is seeking to fill a vacancy within the General Insurance Supervision Division, which is responsible for the prudential supervision of domestic and international (re)insurance companies. General Insurance Division takes a risk based approach to supervision and the roles cover on-site inspection, scrutiny of firms’ governance and control frameworks and financial/actuarial analysis of company returns. This is a three year fixed term contract.

Main duties

The primary responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Assist in the supervision of individual institutions, including visits to and inspections of those institutions.
  • Assist in the evaluation of firms' business models, strategy, and reserving.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of governance and risk management frameworks and setting appropriate risk mitigation plans.
  • Carry out any such functions as may be determined by the Examination Team Manager.
  • Assist in analysing financial information and key risk indicators.

 General competencies

  • Verbal and written communication in particular the ability to relate to senior management and staff.
  • A keen drive to continually develop own skillset and keep up to date with industry developments.
  • Initiative and ability to challenge information.
  • Team player with good assertiveness skills.

Skills and experience

  • Third Level Degree and/or a professional qualification.
  • Experience with supervisory framework/audit in Financial Services, ideally in Non-Life and/or Reinsurance companies.
  • Preferably knowledge of developing regulatory, supervisory and reporting requirements of insurance industry in Ireland, and understanding of non-life and reinsurer's operations.
  • Awareness of wider insurance and regulatory framework, including Solvency II proposals.
