Ad Traffic Quality Team Lead


This position is based in our EU Headquarters in Dublin, Ireland.

The area: Product Quality Operations (PQO)

The Product Quality Operations (PQO) team protects Google's users. We define and communicate product policies, and we defend Google's integrity by fighting spam, fraud and abuse across Google products. The PQO team ensures product quality for the company's expanding base of advertisers, publishers and users in more than 40 languages. We partner with Engineering to combat fraud and abuse across major products like Search, AdWords, AdSense, Google+, Wallet, and Maps. PQO team members are motivated to find innovative solutions and use technical know-how and proactive communication to work across functions to defend the user.

The role: Ad Traffic Quality Team Lead

Our Product Quality Operations team has the critical responsibility of protecting Google's users by ensuring online safety by fighting web abuse and fraud across Google products like Search, Maps, AdWords and AdSense. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic leader. You understand the user's point of view and are interested in using your combined technical, sales and customer service acumen to protect our users. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google developers and Product Managers to navigate challenging online safety situations and handle abuse and fraud cases at Google speed (read: fast!). Help us prove that quality on the Internet trumps all.

As a Team Lead with the Ad Traffic Quality team, you will be responsible for coordinating strategy and personal development for a group that investigates abuse, identifies new forms of abuse, and develops and improves our systems to protect Google's products. You will be working with talented individuals on solving big problems with elegant solutions while working with large data sets. If you enjoy solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment, this is a great role for you. We get to work with many different product teams and deploy solutions to protect Google and its users from abuse.


  • Provide leadership, mentoring, motivation, and career development for a high-performing, technically-minded team responsible for protecting Google's advertisers.
  • Play a major role in developing the fraud/abuse/spam fighting vision and strategy for the Ad Traffic Quality team.
  • Communicate well with the global Product Quality Operations management team and other teams within Google to set strategy and advocate process and product changes to protect Google's customers and users.
  • Identify opportunities for workflow improvement and automation, and empower the team to achieve them.

Minimum qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree. In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, and motivating semi-technical project and operations teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in one of the following areas: online advertising/publishing, internet technology, online search, e-commerce, online payments, policy enforcement, user trust/risk/fraud investigation.
  • Knowledge and experience with programming, especially web development and SQL.
  • Experience working in UNIX/Linux environments.
  • Excellent leadership, influencing, organizational, communication and teamworking skills.
  • Strong understanding of how the Internet works.
