Full-time Temporary Contract (11 Months)

Overview

Campus Residences DAC is a busy, thriving company located in Dublin City University, offering modern student apartments located at the heart of the campus. Campus Residences offers accommodation during the summer months to educational groups and leisure guests that visit Dublin City. The company also operates a conference and events service to all DCU academics and external companies. Campus Residences DAC operates over 3 campuses, DCU Glasnevin, DCU St Patrick's and DCU All Hallows. 

Location: Campus Residences, Glasnevin, Dublin 9

Reports to:  The Accommodation Manager

Summary of Role

The role of the Deputy Accommodation Manager is to deputise for the Accommodation Manager, to oversee a high level of cleanliness at all times in public areas and bedrooms during both summer and term time while ensuring that all staff are trained in all areas of responsibility.

 

The successful applicant will have the following responsibilities:

 

  • To deputise for the Accommodation Manager in their absence and to attend regular management meetings where necessary in this capacity
  • To maintain cleanliness in bedrooms and public spaces in accordance to standards set
  • To liaise with the front office team on a daily basis to ensure all VIP’s and special requests are dealt with
  • To conduct regular room inspections during term time and apply fines where appropriate
  • Conduct pre-arrival room checks prior to each semester
  • Work closely with provider of contract cleaning operations to ensure adequate training and standards are imparted to all contract staff and to monitor hours and productivity of same
  • To allocate work areas for directly employed staff as well as contract cleaners   based on occupancy and resources
  • To inform Front Office team regarding the status of rooms
  • To notify the facilities management team on any maintenance requirements and follow  up on same to ensure practical completion to a satisfactory standard
  • To compulsory staff training as required by Management
  • To train and monitor the activity of all Housekeeping staff
  • To ensure adequate cover for all areas and  productivity achieved
  • To ensure you have a thorough understanding of in-house systems (Kinetics, StarRez, security, FM helpdesk etc.)
  • To possess relevant product knowledge on all goods and chemicals used by the housekeeping team in their daily tasks
  • To conduct regular stock takes of  all required chemicals / tools / linen / inventory and to ensure a par stock is maintained at all times
  • To prepare order sheets  for monthly/weekly requisitions based on occupancy figures
  • To ensure due diligence is taken for Health and Safety of self, other employees, guests and any other persons on the premises and that the necessary training is received and given
  • To deal with the recording, storage and, where possible, the return of all lost property
  • To carry out and participate in regular fire and accident training and drills
  • To report, and where necessary, take action in relation to any incident of accident, fire, loss or damage

 

This is not a full and final list of duties as you may be asked to take on additional tasks by management from time to time

Requirements:

  • Candidates must hold a leaving certificate or relevant qualification, e.g. management, hospitality, tourism related
  • A minimum of two years’ experience at supervisory level in a large accommodation operation is essential
  • Have strong organizational skills together with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Proficiency with IT programmes and experience working with the Star Res and KX IT systems
  • A customer focused person, for whom customer service is at the forefront of all tasks, with the ability to resolve customer issues at first contact is vital
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Be a strong communicator with proven administrative and time management skills and previous experience managing in busy operations environment
  • Candidates should have a flexible attitude [need to work 5 days over 7 day period, inclusive of weekends)

Remuneration: Salary Commensurate with Experience
