The Role

This is a specific purpose contract to cover a staff members reduced working hours commencing immediately for a period of 2 years.  This role will have a significant leadership element and the person will require high levels of influencing skills and highly developed interpersonal skills.  S/he will have a significant role within the organisation in leading, guiding and facilitating the development of responsive, innovative and individualised solution focused approaches to support service users and their families. S/he will work as the Designated Officer within the organisation dealing with concerns raised in relation to people supported by the organisation and will provide Head of Department cover during periods of leave.

This will involve keeping abreast if good practice issues, current trends, legislation policies and procedures to support and shape the development of practice and approaches to guide and inform responsive solutions to service user’s life changes.

Qualifications / Experience

Candidates must satisfy Department of Health & Children and code of Professional Conduct and Ethics for appointment as follows:

  • Hold a recognised degree or equivalent that is approved by the Social Workers Registration Board together with current CORU registration.
  • Have at least 5 year’s relevant professional experience in Social Work with proven management ability.
  • Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability to enable them discharge satisfactorily the duties of the post. Experience of working with children and/or adults with an intellectual disability is desirable, but not essential.
  • Candidates must demonstrate leadership and planning skills and the ability to set goals, put them into action, and follows through.  The person appointed will have the ability to exercise good judgement, discretion and confidentiality, to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and to co-operate in a team environment with a person-centred philosophy.
  • A full clean driving license and access to his/her own car.
