This job is an integral part of the Finance function. You will work closely with the Financial Controller and other members of the Finance team. The ability to work to regular deadlines is vital and assisting other team members as required.

 

WORLD VISION IRELAND was established as a registered Irish charity in 1983 and currently has 23 staff located in Dublin.  World Vision Ireland’s primary objective is to support our field operations, both in terms of our core long-term development programmes and humanitarian & emergency relief.  We do this by raising private, institutional and Governmental funds, by informing the Irish public about humanitarian issues as witnessed first-hand by World Vision in the field, and by influencing Irish Governmental policy in the areas of long-term development and emergency relief. World Vision Ireland is a member of the World Vision International partnership, which is both the largest emergency relief and Child Sponsorship agency in the world.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintaining purchase ledger
  • Posting purchase invoices
  • Ensure purchase invoices are coded correctly and costed accurately
  • Processing of weekly payroll
  • Reconciliation of invoices with delivery notes, where appropriate
  • Making payments to suppliers by cheque / EFT
  • Accurately recording expenses incurred to date
  • Bank postings
  • Preparation of monthly bank reconciliation
  • Checking Petty Cash receipts and reconciling balance each month
  • Process journals to bring monthly accounts to Trial Balance
  • Assist in completion of Management Accounts

 

Person Specification

 

Key Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Experience in a finance environment
  • Strong working knowledge of double entry accounting
  • Good working knowledge of accounting packages
  • Knowledge of Sage 50 would be an advantage
  • IATI / AAT Qualified or studier, or similar
  • Focused approach to work with strong attention to detail
  • Organised and methodical
  • Excellent numeracy skills
  • Knowledge of Micropay or similar
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • ECDL certified or equivalent - excellent IT skills are a must

  • Ability to use MS Office products - excellent knowledge of excel a must
  • Good telephone manner
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to problem solve
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to liaise with a wide range of contacts and build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
  • Ability to be proactive, use own initiative and work effectively
  • Positive and flexible approach to team working
  • Able to prioritise work as appropriate

  • Contract Type:               Full-time, permanent (6 month probationary period)
  • Working hours:              9am to 5.30pm Monday to Thursday & 9am to 4.30pm on Friday
  • Salary:                          €22,000 - €25,000  depending on experience
  • Start Date:                    31st October 2017 or earlier
