Financial Accountant – Investment Reporting 

12 month contract

Based in Irish Life Investment Managers, Beresford Court, Beresford Place, Dublin 1

Irish Life Investment Managers (ILIM), the investment management company within Irish Life Assurance, part of Great-West Lifeco (GWL) Group, manages assets of over €70bn. ILIM provides investment products and solutions to both institutional and retail clients, offering a full range of active and indexed funds together with tailored investment solutions meeting specific clients objectives.

The Job

This is a diversified financial accounting role across a variety of fund vehicles including Unit Linked and UCITS funds.  This role includes financial, statutory and regulatory reporting for our clients within tight timelines.  The Financial Accountant will report into the Investment Finance manager.  The appointee will gain exposure to the following within the area:

  • Preparing and completing monthly and quarterly reporting deliverables for internal and external clients as required.
  • Preparing & delivering Regulatory returns in line with required deadlines.
  • Developing new processes, understanding new systems and maximising the benefits from these new systems as well as streamlining existing processes.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of best practice controls and procedures for the management and financial reporting environment
  • Ensuring ongoing tax and compliance requirements are met and communicated in line with procedures
  • Extensive interaction with all internal business units, business units across the Group and external clients
  • Preparation & managing annual audits and statutory accounts
  • Complete ad-hoc reporting requests
  • Preparing and/or reviewing reconciliations

The Person

The ideal applicant will possess the following skills and knowledge:

  • Qualified ACA/ACCA or equivalent 1-2 years post qualified experience, pervious exposure to investment assets and UCITS fund reporting would be preferable.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Motivated individual who uses their initiative
  • Proven ability to implement and manage change either with small scale process improvements or as part of a larger project
  • Good communicator
  • Attention to detail with a desire to continually improve systems and processes
  • Proven track record of problem solving demonstrating an enterprising and resourceful ability to address challenges as they arise
  • An enthusiastic individual who will represent the company in a professional manner
  • Can demonstrate their ability to be flexible in terms of role deliverables
  • Experience in Simcorp Dimension, SAP would be beneficial.
  • Strong PC skills, especially Excel, and an intuitive understanding of business systems
