JOB TITLE: Head of Sales                        

POSITION REPORTS TO: CEO

LOCATION: Baldonnell, Co. Dublin, with travel nationally and internationally

BACKGROUND:

NVD is a family owned, highly progressive, automotive logistics company with a strong market share in Ireland. The company offers an integrated service for OEMs and national distributors in the areas of automotive transport, storage and vehicle preparation.

Operating in Ireland and the UK, NVD is headquartered in New Ross, Co. Wexford, with state-of-the-art facilities in Baldonnell, Co. Dublin, Rosslare, Co. Wexford and Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.

ROLE OFFERING:

We are looking to appoint a Head of Sales, which is a new position for the company.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-paced Senior Management Team. Candidates must be able to bring an idea from concept, through to design and into the marketplace – and have a proven track record in successfully doing so.

The successful candidate must have a good technical and working knowledge of the industry we operate within.

This positon will be charged with developing an expanded sales proposition across all verticals, particularly for the vehicle preparation centres, which have the capacity to offer an expanded service range to the Irish market.

The successful candidate will work with new and existing customers to ensure that product development and positioning will meet with market demands.

This position will also play an integral role in influencing and driving forward the strategic direction of NVD.

PURPOSE OF ROLE:

This role will form part of our Senior Management Team. Its purpose is to;

  • Lead the development of an expanded product range; develop new markets for our company to exploit our expanding infrastructure and resources.
  • Implement our company’s Sales & Marketing Plan, in order to achieve sales and profit objectives.
  • Pursue sales potential across transport, workshop and compound operations.
  • Actively influence and achieve NVD’s strategic planning goals.
  • Develop a very concise understanding of the future of the motor industry.
  • Bring expertise in B2B automotive services and products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and Execute;

  • A Sales & Marketing Strategy that features new markets, innovations and products which will yield results within a 6-8 month time period.
  • An understanding of the market in which we operate and key points of contact/influencers therein.
  • Sales & Marketing plans to support tenders for new contracts and to pursue new tender opportunities.
  • Identify customer requirements, capture their ideas and provide immediate feedback to appropriate company personnel so that opportunities can be identified and cost analysed.
  • Devise a plan to fill spare operational capacity.
  • Continuously develop the Sales & Marketing function in line with changing market requirements.
  • Marketing programmes for advertising, promotions, market research and product development.

Monitor, Manage and Report;

  • Personally deliver key sales targets / key accounts.
  • Monitor and report to Management on deliverables and achievements.
  • Manage and coordinate suppliers with regard to new product/service introductions, marketing literature and brochures etc.
  • Develop excellent relationships with existing customer base and conduct regular visits as well as developing relationships with potential new customers.
  • Liaise with management across all departments to support them in meeting and exceeding budgeted revenue and profit targets.
  • Liaise with IT and ensure company website is reviewed regularly, portrays the right image and is aligned with the marketing strategy.
  • Manage and galvanise a team with direct reports with formal reporting structures and staff briefings.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Third level qualification in the area of Management, Business, Sales or Marketing.
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience in Sales or Marketing.
  • Dublin based role but must be very flexible and willing to travel nationwide and internationally frequently.
  • Technical knowledge of the industry in which NVD operates or of the motor trade or of related trade areas:
    • Ideally with a background in the motor industry, either at dealership, supplier or OEM level
    • Industry experience in dealing with HGVs, Local Authorities, Engineering advantageous
    • Experience in assisting with new technical product design or placement advantageous
    • Proven track record in bringing an idea from conception, to design and successfully into the marketplace.
    • Proven track record in motivating a team to achieve a targeted and measureable plan.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY

  • Highly credible and professional Manager, with visionary leadership capacity
  • Strong credentials in meeting sales targets and in expanding revenue beyond traditional boundaries
  • High end communicator; with strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills (an honest communicator)
  • Attitude displaying genuine rigor and determination with a high level of inquisitiveness
  • High level of organisational skills
  • Ability to motivate and manage a team
  • A sound technical knowledge and interest in the domestic and international motor industry
  • Acute awareness and insight into changing direction of this industry
  • Experience of bodyshop / motor dealership environment advantageous
  • Ability to identify a marketplace and peculiarities therein to exploit opportunities
  • Ability to plan and successfully execute
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively with little direction or oversight.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
  • Exemplary customer service and relationship management skills
  • Practical approach to problem solving
  • Experience in office administration at executive level
  • Systems driven
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines
  • Pays attention to detail and appreciates the importance of precision
  • Mobile & flexible
  • Proficient in MS Office software
  • Ability to travel nationwide and internationally as required.
  • Full clean driving licence

  • Contribute to the achievement of annual budgeted profit targets
  • Capitalise on all market penetration opportunities
  • Ensure tender submissions are completed on time
  • Meet continuous improvement targets
  • Ensure service level performance is maintained by operational functions
  • Maintain quality standards
