Inside Story: Nualtra

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Nualtra is an Irish company which specialises in the delivery of food for special medical purposes to assist in the clinical treatment of malnutrition.

Launched in late 2012 by dietician Paul Gough, the business is growing rapidly in UK and Ireland.

The company is currently looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join their team.

The role, which is open to graduates, involves working with and building relationships with nursing homes across the West of Ireland.

Lorna Byrne is a Speech and Language Therapist working with Nualtra. She told us more about her job.

What is your background?Nualtra

After graduating from college I began working in Private Practice where I treated adults and children with speech and language difficulties. I really loved my position but wasn’t able to use to qualification in dysphagia (disorder of swallowing).

Why Nualtra?

When I heard about Nualtra and the speech and language service they provide to nursing homes across Ireland I jumped at the chance to work with them.

What attracted me to the company was their story and their ethos. As a start up company it is wonderful to be a valued member of their team of clinicians.  In the past year I watched Nualtra grow from strength to strength.

What do you love most about your job?

I have been involved in giving education seminars to staff in the nursing homes which is another interesting aspect of my job. What I love most is that no two days are ever the same. Every day you are meeting new faces and working to build strong professional relationships; a lovely aspect of the post.

Nualtra fulls supports their employees’ growth and development and ensure we are up to date with training and professional development.

There aren’t too many people who admit to loving their job but I’m fortunate to say that I do! It really isn’t hard when you have supportive, friendly colleagues and get to be part of a business that is flourishing.
