Although young by the standards of most Universities, UL has established a vital and distinctive niche within the tertiary education system of Ireland and is justifiably proud of its strong programmes in teaching, learning and research.
Undergraduate Programmes are offered through the format of co-operative education which ensures that students gain practical, on-the-job experience in addition to the more traditional learning environment of the classroom and laboratory. This experiential learning, coupled with UL's emphasis on high quality teaching and learning, has resulted in high demand for UL graduates by national and international employers. Research is recognised as an essential component of the University's mission, with post-graduate students contributing significantly to the discovery of new knowledge and new understanding.
UL strives for excellence and relevance in all its endeavours and the pursuit of this goal is facilitated by the productive relationships which it enjoys with many corporate partners, including those located on the Plassey Science Park with adjoins UL's splendid campus of over 200 acres.
