The Galway Advertiser was first published April 16th, 1970. It is Ireland's longest established and most successful free paper. In the last five years the Advertiser Newspaper Group also launched The Kilkenny Advertiser, The Mayo Advertiser, The Athlone Advertiser and The Mullingar Advertiser. In spite of the current economic conditions, these papers have grown each year since their first publication, and the outlook is considered very positive for each of them. They are now well established in the regions where they are circulated. The newspapers are all printed at The Irish Times printing plant, in Citywest, Dublin which enables 100% colour print through out the publications. Today the Galway Advertiser is regarded as Ireland's most successful free newspaper. Print run is 55,000 and readership figure is in excess of 180,000 readers, it has an average 120 pages per issue. Most of the distribution is outsourced and these companies deliver the Galway Advertiser door to door throughout City Galway each Thursday. The combined circulation for the other four publications is over 55,000, with each being the largest circulating publication in their region. The classified advertisements are considered to be the barometer of a provincial newspaper. The Advertiser newspapers have unrivalled market saturation in this area. All publications are available world wide on the Internet. On average a 100,000 people access the papers each week from Malaysia to Canada, so we are local yet global.
