Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin (OLCHC) is the largest tertiary paediatric hospital in Ireland, providing services to children from infancy through adolescence who attend for a wide range of medical and surgical specialties as either in or out patients. OLCHC is a progressive teaching hospital with a commitment to providing family-centred healthcare in a compassionate and supportive environment The hospital is also involved in the teaching of medical personnel. Undergraduate students from University College Dublin, The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and Trinity College Dublin receive their training in Paediatrics at Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin. The School of Nursing provides training for the Higher Diploma in Nursing Studies (sick children's nursing). Research is a fundamental component of all paediatric disciplines and the provision of a specialised research facility must be an integral part of a modern comprehensive children's hospital. The Children's Research Centre at this hospital provides well equipped laboratory facilities for the investigation of the biological basis of childhood disease. |
